Hello all, I am a 22 year old female from the UK who is new to crochet. I took it up approx a month ago, I really enjoy it and would like to dedicate more of my time to it. As I do not know anyone who crochets or there are no accessible local crochet&knitting groups around me I may be asking for some of your help from time to time. Thank you in advance. Hellsbellswells

Can you help me with this baby bonnet pattern? New to crocheting
keshoe posted a question in Crochet Help
I just learned to crochet and I have a baby girl and am having fun making hats for her and thought, what about a bonnet? Well, I found this old pattern online at grandmotherspatternbook.com and started it but got stuck on round 2 of all places. It reads: Row 2— Work 2 D. C. in first space, * yarn over hook, insert hook in back of next D. C, draw up a loop, yarn over, draw up a loop in same place, yarn over, draw up a loop in same place, yarn over, draw through all loops on hook, chain 1, 2 D. C. in next space, repeat from * all around, having 16 puffs with 2 D. C. between each puff. Does this mean chain 3? or work the back loop? or the post from the double crochet? or something entirely different? I would appreciate any help in this as I would love to make this for my little girl. Then row 3 reads: Row 3 — 2 D. C. in centre of 2 D, C. and work puff around puff of preceding row. I also don't know what "work puff around puff" means Thank you ahead of time for taking the time to read this and I hope that someone out there can help me- 9 replies

"work in part to last 2 stitches"? What does this mean?
arielnipper posted a question in Crochet Help
I am crocheting my first sweater for a baby (I am not new to crochet and this is a simple pattern) and have never seen this term used before "work in part." If someone could tell me what this means and how this is done I would greatly appreciate it, as I am in the dark even after searching online for about 2 hours and having no luck at all. If it helps the entire line reads: " chain 1, sc in first 2 stitches, work in part to last two stitches, turn".- 3 replies

Hi, I'm trying to teach myself how crochet and am trying to crochet a simple 4x14 single crochet rectangle. I am using "sugar and cream" 100% cotton yarn and a J sized hook. As you can see in my picture (though for some reason it came in upside down) my rows are all smooshed together Making a ribbed pattern. I am not just crocheting from the back loop, but am going though both the front and the back loops when I crochet. I try to keep my stitches the same tension- not too tight, but have a sinking suspicion that something is not right and no one to ask/show. If you could please be so kind and help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Thank you for any help Nancy
