    graphghan help

hello everyone, I am starting a grahghan and need some help. I have found out how to make a swatch and figure out my guage but i am having problems with the picture i want to use. i have tried to use knitpro but no matter what i do the picture is very blurry. so then i tried stitch fiddle and the picture seems to big and very pix-elated. below is the picture that i would like to use. The throw measurements are 48x48. using my swatch 4sts= 1in. i figured i need 192 boxes to gain the width that i would like.So on top of all that i could also use some advise on how to figure out the height a
  8. This one if for my niece. I didn't love the picture, I didn't find it clear enough if that makes sense. But she loved it so I am surprising her for Christmas. I worked like a bunny to get it done in time. Now I really am moving on to Phantom! LOL It's all single crochet and I used an H Hook and Red Heart Supersaver which I love. Once you wash it it becomes super soft.
  9. Hello Everyone: I am having trouble completing a pattern I completed using a crochet graph creator (I have attached this pattern). My problem comes in with actually crocheting the design. As I am going along (I am using a hdc [us terms]), I am noticing that even though my stitches match up with my graph, they don't seem to be lining up correctly [or what I would expect to be correctly]. For example. As I am completing the black around the edge of my elephant, from one row to the next the black stitches don't seem to be directly above one another (for those that are supposed to be). Can any
  10. Hello I have made the ABC blanket and eat-sleep-play-repeat baby afghans and others in puff stitches I would like to get more creative and add the baby's name and date of birth in puff stitches. It there an easy way to do this with graph paper? Is there a trick?
  11. I am wanting to take the picture on the graph paper which is 25 wide by 36 long and make it into a large lap throw say maybe 5'x7'. I can't get any of the program suggested to work and would really like to get this project started as I've never done anything that requires changing colors or had letters on it!! As a matter of fact, just this year I made a sock monkey and booties to go with a corner to corner blanket I made for a friend. Those are the most difficult items I've ever made. Prior to those it was only single, double and treble stitch items. If someone could make the graph and post i
  12. Hi there! So a while back I attempted to make some children's gloves Halloween-themed [as it was mid-October] just to try my hand at graphing, and I've also been interested in doing a graph-gan or two [if I ever get this granny-square blanket done]. However, I'm curious on something. What I noticed when attempting the gloves was that anywhere I was constantly switching colors, the gloves were thicker since I was carrying the yarn. But I disliked carrying the yarn as well because I was using orange and black, and the carried yarn liked to show up underneath. So what I wanted to ask was:
  13. Hello Everyone, I am really hoping that someone can help me figure this out. I am trying to make an afghan for my nephew to fit roughly a twin sized bed. I am using the dimensions 70 x 90. I am using the little song/poem from The Big Bang Theory: Soft Kitty. I have found a formula to go ahead and calculate my stitches and rows: 276 stitches across (not counting turning stitch) and 390 rows. My pattern is set up in Microsoft Excel and fits the 70 x 90 squares/cells. I am trying to figure out how many stitches each box is. Any assistance is more than appreciated Jasmine
  14. Hey everyone! Hope you are all enjoying your day! My time this Summer has been spent designing a Zebra Blanket for my daughter. I first made a crochet chart and then used the Tapestry Crochet technique. I love this blanket, it turned out perfect. I also designed a simple border for around the body. So many more neon colors await this blanket, and I want to complete one in black/white as well. This chart is listed in my Etsy Shop and it comes with 4 files. They are all high quality and the following are included: a full chart in .jpg and .bmp format, a quick tutorial page on how to re
  15. I want to double the size of a graph, it is a 50x50, each block is 1 stitch. I need the actual symbol to be larger so I want to double it for my afghan.I read somewhere that in order to double it as below, is this true? thank you very much. It doubles the size if you do 4 sc for every square of the graph (2 sc for each square then repeat the row)... Jeannie
  16. I made this for my 7 year old granddaughter. It was supposed to be a throw, 3 squares across and 5 squares down. I was afraid it would be too small, so I added 6 rows of border to each square, and now it is bedspread size. Oh well! As least she won't outgrow it I used this for the basic heart: http://crochet.about.com/od/motifs/ss/Crochet_Heart_Chart.htm The rest of it I made up myself.
