  1. I have been working very hard! In the summer I had a Crotat aricle and pattern published in Inside Crochet. I have re-written the article, taking into account feedback from readers and teaching workshops, so that it now includes more detailed instructions and more advanced techniques. Byt the best news - for all of you - is that all of this hard work is available for free on my site and as an 18 page downloadable eBook. http://www.enfys.me.uk/crotat-tutorial.htm Enjoy!

If you love to make purses and totes, it would be convenient for you to learn how to make your own straps and handles. Even if you have the money to buy commercial handles, there might be a project for which you might not find "just" the right one to match the colors that you used. And just like the crocheters who learn how to make buttons so that they could always match the buttons to a jacket or cardigan, you will find that making your own handles is not only more economical, but more creative, fun and liberating! Tazia is a round braid that can be tailored to any color scheme you might use
  3. Suzanne is our second round braid to be used as a purse handle. It can be coordinated with the colors you have chosen for your purse or made to contrast, for example, if you make a black bag and buy for it some wooden purse rings, then you can make the braid in earthy tones to combine with the rings and contrast the back, terracotta and brick tones with a single black rope interwoven into the mix would look just lovely and you can save oodles on commercial purse handles! 4. For those of you who love to make bags and would like to embellish them with an easy yet fancy-looking frog closure. This is one of the easiest I've ever made, yet it is really pretty. If you've never tried to make one, or been intimidated by the complex look of them (they are really easy once you get the hang of how to make the cord,) try this one! Of course you can adapt it to jackets, cardigans and other types of winter tops, even as a closure for wraps, but it just look super cute in purses! You will find the free tutorial here: http://craftypursenalityshoppe.blogspot.com/2012/11/peony
  5. Knobby Beanie can be made into a slouch hat as well for sizes 5 years and up

  9. I don't know about you, but I think that frog closures give a certain elegance to a bag, a finish that says "special". This frog closure was intended for the capelet I just shared, but after I made it, I realized just how gorgeous it really looked on a large tote or bag and decided to share it. It is more intricate looking than it really is, it is quite easy to make, yet really lovely. 17. There are tons of ways to embellish bags. I've been having fun showing some bag makers just a handful of them. One way is to make a pretty little strap that is a surprise in itself, because it is made with another technique that does not follow the usual road. . .This is the case of this strap. Easy as can be once you learn the direction of the knots and very pretty when done. If you're interested in using it on your next bag, you will find the FREE tutorial here: http://craftypursenalityshoppe.blogspot.com/2011/08/half-hitch-bag-strap.html Enjoy! Clotilde
