  1. Hello Everyone My name is Teena-Louise. I am from Ballwin, Missouri. I have been crocheting 3 years as a lefty. I love waffle stitch the most. I hate not being able to figure out how to add text to my waffle stitch patterns or doing graphgans in Waffle Stitch. Doesn't really help my side business goals. Recently left my job I was at part-time as a home health aide to work out of my home selling on Etsy and Facebook. Right now I only have high dollar items but researching trends and accepting custom orders as well. I love crocheting. It has got me through rough times. It helps me destress a lot. I love meeting people from my area in Saint Louis to chit chat and crochet with. Not to mention learning. I LOVE LEARNING! If there are any business owners out there I would love advice. I think everyone is great until they give me a solid reason not to. I hope to make friends on here. Ciao! I do have an Etsy shop: RoRoYourBoatCrochet and FB: Ro Ro Yo Boat Crochet (etsy totally messed up the catchiness of my business name)
  2. Hello, I'm new to this site and look forward to getting answers to my questions and concerns and sharing ideas. Thanks, Sheryl -
  3. Hi, everyone! My name is Paula and I'm pretty new to crochet! I have been teaching myself how to crochet since this past summer and I swear I learn something new every day! I have learned the most from watching Youtube video tutorials! I find them easier sometimes to learn from them than an actual pattern but I am getting better at reading patterns, I just like to follow along with a video to help in case I get stuck! No one in my family was ever into crafts, let along knitting or crochet and I've always wanted to learn crochet and how to quilt. My first project was a gray C2C which is sitting on the back of my couch! Since then, I have made a couple more c2c's as gifts, a beautiful shells blanket, 2 cosy stripe blankets, 8 messy bun hats, 6 different kinds of scarves, fingerless gloves and a pom-pom hat! I usually have a few projects going at the same time and always have a tote bag ready to take to doctor appointments etc. This week I was approached to sell my latest throw blanket and I am still quite in shock that someone liked it that much and they were willing to pay for it! I had no clue as to what to charge for it, so I asked a few people in my facebook crochet groups and as always they were beyond helpful and very supportive! Money has been very tight for my family lately, so the money I made off the blanket really came in handy! It took me just over 2 weeks to complete the blanket and I only spent about $25 in yarn because I ordered a color pack with 17 skeins from a store in the UK! When I named my price of $150 for the throw blanket, I was certain she was going to try and talk me down and maybe even say that was too expensive but she didn't do any of that- she just said, "OK, great!" She told me that she is opening a shop in a very pricey shopping area and wants to use the blanket in her storefront window-Talk about exciting! lol I am looking forward to being a part of this group & getting to know you all!
  4. Here are a few Christmas crocheting projects I finished up yesterday. I am finally finished - Yea! Merry Christmas everyone!
  5. Starts June 21st, 2014 and if you can come by the shop, we will start at1 pm. Spring & summer is here and a nice crocheted shawl for those cool evenings or air condition spaces would be great to have, especially because you made it yourself! You can choose from two patterns: V-Stitch & Scallop Shawl: http://www.redheart.com/files/patterns/pdf/LC4100.pdf Lion Brand free pattern library: http://www.lionbrand.com/printablePatterns/WildFlowerShawl.pdf Both patterns are intermediate that with help most can do either of these patterns. I made a few changes (of course) when I made my V-stitch & scallop shawl. I used Bamtastic yarn from Plymouth (a nice bamboo & nylon mix which adds bounce to my shawl) and a "F" hook. It took three balls. This allowed me to shorten the number of rows needed for the body to 54 rows before adding my scallop trim. For the Wild Flower Shawl I used Saucon Sock from Kraemer Yarns. It's a cotton, acrylic & nylon sock yarn with about 231 yds per skein. The yarns are available at most local yarn shops. If needed they are available from my shop @ 856.669.1131. Because there is 430 yds per skein of Saucon Sock yarn I will half the skein for all colors (except black), and half the cost as well.
  6. Hi my name is Beth, I am a full time nursing student and part time care provider. I crochet in my spare time and sell my crochet items to support my husband and I. It is a passion of mine that I've worked on improving the past couple of years. Right now I am working on Mother's Day and Father's Day ideas and would love any inputs or ideas ????. I'm hoping to make enough things and have ready before those days to sell at a local shop that buys and only sells locally made crafted items. I am making fruit coaster for Mother's Day and have plans to make chocolate covered strawberries and maybe cup cozies and Father's Day beer cozies, maybe sport coasters and not sure what else would be good. So if you have ideas or want to talk about anything else message me Beth

  8. My grandmother taught me to crochet a basic chain years ago. Thru the years I have read patterns and taught myself new stitches, etc. I have always enjoyed crocheting, but didn't have a real outlet for my projects. About five years ago a friend talked me into joining a homemakers group thru 4 - h. It has given me a fun way to share my creativity. I was over 50 years old when I entered my first 4-h project. I have just recently started selling some of my projects. Exciting! Thinking about possibly retiring my full time job soon and going full time. Excited to join a group of other crocheters.
