Hello everyone! So I'm working on designing my first amigurumi (crocheted dolls and stuffed animals) pattern and it's basically just all basic shapes based on what I've learned from amigurumi patterns in the past. After making several amigurumi I've got the basic shapes down -- sphere, oval, elongated sphere, cylinders, etc. I can basically make any symmetrical shape. But when it comes to amigurumi there are times where you want a less symmetrical shape especially for things like heads, snouts, tails etc. I haven't been able to find any advice on more advanced amigurumi shaping. Obviously sometimes in a pattern I follow there is more advanced shaping but it's going to be different for each project once you get away from the basic shapes. Is it just trial and error? I look at these 3d shapes as a big math problem and I understand that the shapes are symmetrical because you increase or decrease evenly all the way around. So in theory increasing or decreasing only on one side should give a less symmetrical shape. But I guess I'm having a hard time envisioning how to make it work. Does anyone have any references or advice on more advanced shaping?

So I'm trying to create a cabled triangle shawl and I have achieved something very similar to what I wanted, in the pics you can see, the cables are 6 dcs apart. My goal: I want there to be only 2dcs in between cables so they are much closer together Right now, I have been adding new cables once there are 12 sts ( not incl the edge stitch and one stitch inside the chain of the center point) on either side of an existing cable. Does that maybe help anybody to help me? Haha.. I have no clue. Thanks so much in advance
