  1. I can usually figure out my way through a pattern but I am unsure on this one I am making the beret on First Beret pattern by Red Heart https://www.redheart.com/files/patterns/pdf/LW2741.pdf I have finished through Rnd 6 and have 30 3-dc crochet groups as described. Rounds 7-10 are repeat Rnd 4. I wish it told me how many 3-dc groups there are in this row. Can I assume that it will remain steady at 30? I am working into row 6 which had two groups of 3-dc worked in every other space to make an increase. thanks for looking at this!
  2. Hi all! I have been crocheting for ~8 years but only amigurumis with single crochet, and after Swedish patterns (I am Swede). I decided that now I will try some slight more advanced patterns, even in English, with double crochets. I found this beginner's pattern but I have started over about 4 times already. I don't get it. The pattern can be found here: https://hannicraft.blogspot.com/2013/03/simple-beret-crochet-pattern.html I have attached how my work looks like. I am now working on round 3 and it really does not look like the beret on the photo in the pattern. What I do not get is: The beret on the pattern has 12 sections, they are very clear. They are not seen on my beret.. I simply don't understand why. I have crocheted according to what it says: R3: 3 chain stiches and then make 1 double crochet in the same stich. Then continuing with 1 double crochet in next stich. Then 1 chain. Then 2 double crochets in next stich, then one double crochet in next stich + 1 chain. Repeating that that 11 times starting with the 2 double crochets. My work is all bubbly at the edges. I suppose it's since I am increasing the work, making two double crochets (dc's) in one stich here and there according to the pattern. But when I see the finished beret on the photos, it does not look bubbly at all; it's flat. I have never crocheted like this before, so I do not know if it's normal and will even out when it's finished..? I am using hook 3.5. Also tested with hook 4, no difference. I do not know yarn size, I just found a ball of this yarn at home. Anyone know what's wrong..? Thank you ❤️ - Emelie

    Grey beret

Here's the first wearable item I've made. It's a beret for my dad, he seemed pretty happy with it (thank god! It's not that easy, trust me.). It's actually grey, but since my lighting is kinda yellow, it looked brownish on the pic. Hope it doesn't look too bad for a beginner
  4. I crocheted a plain, tam-style, garter stitch beret. Despite not working a tight gauge, it is too small. I think the pattern maker just has a small head. I followed the pretty basic pattern from this video -https://youtu.be/8myaqOkCP3s, and used a size G hook and worsted weight yarn. Should I: A) Attempt to wet block it to a larger size (it's alpaca), B) Rip out the brim and decrease rows then ad lib more increase rows and modify the decrease, or C) Rip it out entirely and use a different pattern? This is my first basic crochet project. Usually I make decorative lace stuff when I crochet, or I knit. While I frequently make or alter patterns when knitting, I'm not that experienced with crochet yet. I'm just not sure what the best option here is. Thoughts?

    Baby Army Beret

Hello there! It's been so long since I've been on here! I'm so happy to see it's still going, and looks to be going strong. Any way, I've been making berets for a few months now. I live in the Ft. Bragg area, and EVERYONE here is Army, so there's a lot of demand for them. I finally typed up a pattern for them. Got some friends to test. I had to share the photo of my friend's kid. TOO CUTE not to share:) .https://www.flickr.com/photos/97712210@N00/19190921084/in/dateposted-public/
