I crocheted myself a new cast iron handle cover this weekend. My old one was all scorched and the stitching was frayed so I got out a ball of t-shirt yarn I had and crocheted a new one. Here is a photo of my new handle cover. I used this free handle cover pattern which is compatible for bulky yarns or T-yarn which is cut very thin from an old T-shirt and stretched. The T-yarn works wonderfully for handle covers. My old one lasted 5 years and makes it so handy to just leave on the cast iron pan. You never have to look for a potholder.

Here is my first crocheted hat made from recycled t-shirts. This hat took about 2 different colored t-shirts cut into t-yarn or tarn to make. Here is the free crochet pattern for the t-shirt yarn bucket hat at my blog.

Here is a wash mitt I crocheted from recycled t-shirts cut very thin. Here is the free pattern for the crocodile t-shirt yarn wash mitt. You could use the same pattern with regular cotton yarn but just make sure the width of the mitt is wide enough. Add another crocodile stitch shell if needed for a wider mitt.
