  1. Hello there. Thanks for stopping by. My name is Robin, and I'm a dude hanging out in the rural U.S.A. working on college and working through some things in my life. I learnt how to crochet back in 2014 after an accident, and made a blanket and a rug for myself, but crocheting fell to wayside through high school. Now I'm in my second year of college and I've taken crocheting up again as a way to pass the time and to process some stuff going on in my life. I got a few books for my birthday and I made a pig as a practice animal. The pig's name is Oinker. Right now, I'm working on learning a few things such as a magic circle. I decided to join this forum to hopefully make some friends and to get some help with reading patterns. 😄 I hope to meet a lot of nice people here!
  2. Hello, It's really nice to meet everyone who shares my passion for crochet! I have been crocheting since I was 9 years old. For the past several years I have considered myself a "binge crocheter." As a single mom and middle school teacher, crochet time has been a luxury. It wasn't until I had been crocheting for 34 years off-and-on that the global pandemic led me to branch out creatively to try new and different crochet stitches, styles, and project types and I realized how much I really enjoy growing my skills, stitch-types, and diversifying the types of projects I tackle. I have always crocheted projects to give away, in the past, but recently have been commissioned by others who have received my work as gifts to create projects that they could then gift. I have considered taking my crochet more seriously and have discovered that fiber art is an international social media topic and crochet is my specialty therein. I guess if Dr. Seuss got to sum up my passion, he would say, "She turns strings, into things!" I am trying to get myself from a place where I "binge crochet" and dive in deeply, only to have to set things aside, to a place where crochet can fill a bigger part of my life on a regular basis. That may mean making samples, selling products, designing and writing patterns, starting a blog... I have not decided, yet, but I am looking for my next step. I enjoy seeing the wonderful creations on reddit and ravelry already, so I thought this would be a wonderful place to enjoy supporting others' creations and sharing my own. Hook in Hand = Gratitude in my Heart. Nice to meet you! Jessica Barwa
  3. Hello Everyone! I love to crochet, I love plants, I love to eat, and I love my dog coco.
  4. Good day folks. I’ve been living in Canada since ‘69. I was born in Amsterdam and raised there until our family was sponsored to come join our family in Canada. Having been hospitalized for a head injury while still in Holland, my grand parents would come to baby sit me while both parents worked and I watched my grandma making clothes for her grand daughters Barbie dolls. I never did anything with what I watched her do until after we came to Canada and I started to get sick and required a lot of surgeries for what turned out to be Crohn’s Disease, which was then still unheard of. But because I was spending a lot of time in a Toronto hospital and we lived in Niagara Falls I would not get a lot of visitors since both parents worked. So I started to crochet things while I was in the hospital and started selling them. That helped me pay for my TV and Pizza when my diet allowed it. Now many years later i’m on disability and make afghans to sell as an additional income to my disability cheques. I’ll add a picture of the main pattern I've been using but am looking to make a change.
  5. I have never been on a forum before but I'm excited to be involved in talking about Crochet, patterns and yarn more than I already do! Happy to be here! 👋

Now with a very busy toddler I can steal only a few hours here and there to crochet but I cherish those few hours. Hope to learn from all my fellow crocheters here. Cheers
  9. Hello my name is Heather and I have joined to get help and learn new things about crocheting because I am trying to make my grandmother a granny square blanket for Christmas. I made my first blanket for my nephew when he was a newborn in 2003 and I have made little things here and there but I haven't practiced alot but I am more interested in getting better and making more things.

  13. Hi! I haven't crocheted in years. I'm picking it back up again because my grown daughter wants me to crochet a travel-sized version of a blanket I made for her years ago. I'm hoping if I post a picture of the old blanket, someone can help me identify what kind of stitch pattern I used! Lol. Thanks so much!
  14. Hi everyone! I'm Tanya and I'm from Texas. I'm new to crochet by a few months. So far I've made two baby blankets, a pair of baby booties and a newborn cap. I started learning to crochet when I was young but I don't think I made more than a few chains and some potholders. I picked it up as a "new" hobby earlier this year when I found out that not only my fiance's son and my own son were both expecting our first grandbabies but that I am pregnant as well! I immediately thought of the blankets that had been made for me and how special they were and set off to learn how to crochet. Now, I'm hooked for life. I look forward to seeing all of your projects and to learning the craft with some good folk. Here are the pics of my few projects so far. The gray blanket and hat and booties were made for my sweetie's grandson born August 7th, and the star blanket was finished yesterday for my grandson, due a day ahead of my baby boy on November 3rd.

  17. Hello everyone, Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Hannah and we are a military family currently stationed on the island of Guam. I have not been crocheting long, maybe around a year but, I have found a love for it. I recently opened an Etsy shop with the hopes that one or two items will sell and help pay for more yarn : ). The only yarn available on Guam is Red Heart Super Saver so if i want anything else I have to order it online. I am looking to learn more about crochet and pick up some tips to help with a few problems I've been having. Currently hats are my enemy and I just cant seem to figure them out : (. With that said I hope to enjoy this community and all the knowledge it has to offer. Hannah
  18. OK, so I'm in Ohio at the moment, but currently live in Japan. I stumbled upon this community while poking around online, searching for patterns to go with some beautiful project pictures I've seen. I'm sort of new and old to crochet - that is, I tried it a bit when I was younger, but didn't pick it up again until recently - at a writers' retreat of all places. Everyone had a project except me, so I borrowed a hook and bought some yarn and rediscovered the therapy that is crochet. Happy to find a home to share the love, and I'm eager to learn from you all. I truly am a novice, but I'm figuring it out as I go along. I'm also hoping someone might be able to teach me the tricks to finding patterns to purchase (reverse image search on google has worked for a few items, but no luck with two of my favorites.) Are there other strategies I might try? Arigato!

  20. Hi All, So glad to find this site. I am teaching myself to crochet via utube and other online sites. I started this past January, (so just shy of a year), and have become quite addicted. My first project was an afghan. Rather ambitious for a first project but I thought what the heck. Jumped right in and learned some simple stitches. Single and Double crochet with lots of color changes. About halfway through it started to get wonky but I continued not really knowing what the issue was. Figured it was tension as it felt like I had three thumbs when first starting and trying to learn how to hold everything. I added a scalloped shell border, and it helps hide the wonky a little bit. I love it and use it all the time and the odd shape makes it feel more rustic. :o) After a few months and several more projects I now know I was dropping a stitch at the end turns. Once it clicks and you have those aha moments it is easy to figure out the mistakes. To date I have made 4 lap or couch blanket / afghans, ( three for xmas prestents this year), two scarves, one hat, a bath pouf and am currently working on a shawl. I can't seem to go more than a few days without getting the itch to crochet. I am looking forward to learning and sharing with you all. PS: I've attached a pic of my favorite project (second afghan I made) so far, a granny square lap blanket. Michelle
  21. Well hello again! Just came back to this site after a couple of years and I hardly recognize it! Some wonderful changes I think, but I have a question .... Are the forums that were "groups" gone? I remember one calle something about Happy House and also one about Friendship Squares that I used to "hang out in" quite often... some really great people there that gave the sense of being involved in a community.. At any rate, it is still so nice to have a place to come back to that is free, I might add and see so many patterns and pictures of such wonderful things!! Hoping to re-connect and catch up with the happenings and meet some new friends as well! Happy Crocheting!!
  22. Although I've been crocheting for awhile, it's not been an every day thing for me. I'm still working on mostly beginner type projects, but I do like to challenge myself too, so I'll take on some little harder projects too. I am a mother of one son who is 32 years old now and recently became a grandmother of twins (a boy and a girl) thanks to my step-daughter. I just recently got married to the love of my life, who I consider my twin flame. I am a very happy woman and life is good. Merry Part until we Merry Meet again!
  23. Howdy everyone! I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself: My name is Debra Lee. I'm a SAHM who migrated from Texas to Florida a few years ago. My two favorite hobbies include crocheting and gardening (among baking, cooking, and drawing). I'm also a newbie at blogging. My blog is titled, "Handmade Crochet Boutique." It's about my recent and upcoming crochet projects, easy/free crochet patterns created by myself, and tips and tricks to help the everyday Crocheter along their way. I hope to get to meet you all here on Crochetville.com! I'm always looking forward to meeting new people, and learning new crochet techniques and patterns.
  24. Hello from Michigan! I'm super excited about being a member of Crochetville (so much to learn--so much to crochet)!
  25. My name is Marie. I live in New York State not too far from Niagara Falls. Here is a bit about me: In January 2013 I decided to look at New Year's as a way to discover myself. I decided that I really wanted to find out what interested me and what I was good at. I always considered myself not creative. So my discover began So the first thing I did was I signed up for a Wilton Method Course 1: Decorating Basics. It was held in February 2013. I LOVED it! I looked as forward to the last class as I did the first. It was so much fun baking and decorating. The next thing I did was sign up for a basic sewing class this took place in March 2013. See in 2012 My Love bought me a sewing machine and I was feeling guilt from not using it. I took the course and have been sewing ever since. Since then I have made stethoscope covers, pillow cases, curtains, chair covering and Toddler Pillows. In June 2013 My Love bought me a digital camera. I LOVE it! My favorite pictures are of nature. I am obsessed with clouds and textures. July 2013 In July I woke up one day and decided I need to start a blog. Why? Something new I guess. Actually when I was younger I wrote poetry and wanted to be a reporter. I also considered writing a book when I was a teenager but there ere was no one to support me in this endeavor so I did as I was told and went into other things. I still want to write in some way. So a Blog seemed like a good idea. continued to discover myself through the next 9 months. Still searching for something. In April 2014 I discovered crocheting. I purchased a book, explored you tube and joined a local knitting and crocheting group. Within a short period of time I fell in love It is now my passion. I am completely and totally obsessed!!! I am always up for challenging myself and there is always room for more friends in my life. I came upon this site by chance as I was searching for somewhere other than Facebook and Ravelry to connect with other crocheters
