  1. Has anyone had any experience crocheting directly onto denim, such as adding an edging to a pair of jeans? I Just bought a couple of pairs of capris, and I don't like the rolled cuff on them. I'd like to cut that off and add a crocheted edge. I'm thinking I probably need to hem them, but then I'd be crocheting through two layers of denim. That doesn't sound so easy on the hands. Any suggestions for how to do this without ruining my capris and my hands? Thanks in advance!
  2. Hoping somebody can help. I am trying this pattern http://www.yarnspirations.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-master-catalog-spinrite/default/dw6d218def/PDF/BRC0202-002792M.pdf I am really confused about the MC instructions, particularly with beg row 3 where the chart comes in. Do I do 2 dc in each stitch, or do I do 1dc in 2 stitches to make the “block”. For the space, do I miss one dc for each space as in row 2, or do I just do ch1 1dc in each stitch? I’m doing something wrong because I cannot keep the right count according to the chart after trying this several ways. Sorry for the
  3. I was wanting to know if someone would guide me through a paid pattern By Julie Coco Cocoa Owl Scarf. I am looking for someone that would have this pattern also. I know my stitches. Just with my count, am a bit confused at the beginning of the pattern too.
  4. Okay.I was wondering if anyone else that has tried it had the same problem I have had with guage being to small. Well, it's not quite that simple actually. The guage is as follows. 14 rows by 7 bean( 6 loop puff) stitches= 4" by 4". (Lion brand mandala yarn size 3)And of course using the famous size H crochet hook. But it also says, an easier way to guage your project is that your starting chain of 100 equal 27 to 28 inches long. My problem is, when I guage my project, even a J hook doesn't quite get me 7 bean stitches equaling 4 inches( try making 7 bean stitches with something close to an
  5. I need help with this pattern posted free on this site https://www.free-crochet.com/detail.html?code=FC00415&source=pntrsta I have trouble with the joining of the squares instructions. I have just started this pattern, and I have made 2 motifs. Can't seem to understand how to join them and get the "X's" right. The square is easy, but having problems joining the squares. I don't know if you finish off both squares, or work to the joining rnd on rnd 11 and then try to join it them. Either way I have tried both ways and it seems impossible even though I know there is a
  6. Hi, I'm new to crochet and so far so good but now stuck on a pattern step. Say: rounds 8-12 dc all sts (42 sts). Does this mean 42 sts in total or 5x rounds of 42? Picture for ref
  7. Hey! Map I am making a baby blanket out of two panels that I want to combine. I thought it would be easy but I’m having trouble. It’s all double crochet but since ya in a chevron pattern the edges are not as clear. What do you think would be the cleanest way of connecting these two panels and any advice or recommendations on how to do this. Thank! KnitWhit
  8. Me again! Everyone was so helpful when I was making my bunny that I am back here again to ask for your help :-) im about to start a simple blanket, but the pattern will make a 2.4m x .8m blanket. I’d like it to be square. my question is, as it’s done in single crochet, with a chain of 50 and has just short of 100rows, is it as simple as doubling my chain length to 100 to make the chain length similar to the amount of rows? And if so, do I use double the yarn yardage or only 50% more? Thankyou in advance :-)
  9. Hi, me again! After people were so helpful yesterday on my increased I thought I’d ask about decreases today. pattern reads: *dec, 3dc, repeat from * to end (24sts) so I know I’m decreasing from 30stitches to 24, so a decrease of 6. However, I seem to be decreasing much more rapidly... I have read the pattern as: decrease to start, then 3 stitches, followed by another decrease. But this then decreases the round by 10 and not 6.... what am I doing wrong? Am I doing my actual decrease stitch wrong, or am I doing the decrease too soon? see picture for pattern, I’m on ro
  10. Hi, I’m new to this and New to crochet with patterns. I’m making a bunny for my nephews funeral so want to get this right. However, I’m stuck! I’m stitching double stitches in the round, and I’m fine with the pattern increases when it’s 2dc or less, but I’m not sure how to interpret it. I’m currently on round 8(finishing with 30sts), about to start round 9. But I’ve already done this on the body and this is where it started to lose shape so thought I would ask! most rows increase by 6, but it’s the bit that follows that confuses me, if some one can translate this to English for a begi
  11. I’m trying to do the pattern sunburst pullover and I’m stuck on the rnd 7 that says to 7dc [dc,hdc,dc,tr,tr] all in one space. When I do that it’s to much when I do the next round it ruffles up. Am I doing it right is all of that in one space?
  12. Hello, I am a newbie here. I came across an instruction that really confuses me. It says "Make 4 chain (double chain with a single chain)." and I cannot for the life of me figure out what this means. Is this just a double crochet stitch? Thanks in advance for your help.
  13. Ive been worried about this all thru my project and I can't find an answer anywhere because I have a pretty specific question. I'm doing a blanket in squares. I know that getting all the squares to the same size is very important. But I absolutely cannot get all my squares to be exact. Some are a quarter inch smaller than they should be. Will that make my project look bad once it's put together? I did it in acrylic yarn. All my squares are supposed to be 8 by 8. But some are 8 by 8 or 7 and 3/4 by 8 and Visa versa, or even 7 and 3/4 by 7and 3/4. Is that to much variation?
  14. Hi there, I don't suppose anyone on here has the book mentioned above? It mentions that you can add a hood to your doll's jacket but I can't find the pattern for the hood anywhere in the book. Am I missing something? If anyone does know where to find it could you please tell me the page number? Thank you!
  15. I can’t find a name for my store- which will sell crochet crafts and my art like paintings/ drawings. I like flowers, trees, Earth, I like moonstones I wish I could come up with something witchy! So far it was like “Stephanie’s—-“ but I want something indirect and because who knows I add other things to it later, I want something sweet but I’m out of ideas. I feel hopeless
  16. Hi!! I need help! I found a slipper sock pattern that i love. I made some for my daughter whose 18 months.. my problem is my husband liked them too.. how do i make something almost triple the size?? Like is there a formula or do i just kinda wing it? Hes got huge feet and all the patterns ive found for mens slippers we dont like.
  17. I also have a question myself, if someone could help. I'm working with a sweater pattern, and when I reached the end of my first row (using double crochet), it says, chain 3 turn 3, then continues on with the pattern for that row. So my question is, what does turn three mean? Nothing I can find on the internet is helping. From this: "repeat ** until the end of the row sk 3 , 1dc, ch 3 turn 3. Ch5, 1sc in the first ch space,"
  18. Hey everyone! So I need some help understanding this pattern. This pattern isn't written very well and I've worked through figuring it out up to now but I think my brain is fried and I can't figure this out. Im making a hooded batman cape for a toddler and am stuck on the hat. I've increased up until row 7 and am stuck on row 8 (see picture of pattern). I don't understand what the writer of the pattern means by "SC in each single crochet around increasing 6 (16 for toddler) evenly spaced single crochet for a total of 50 (60 single crochets made)." I'm making this for a toddl
  19. I'm starting a new project today, (and new to the forum, hi all!) and it's been years since I've followed a pattern, I'm already stuck on the first row and feeling like giving up already. Was hoping you could decipher for me. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 8 ch, [3 sc in next ch, sc in next 17 ch] 7 times, 3 sc in next ch, sc in last 9 ch changing to B in last st; turn. i understand the abbreviations, I know to change colors, turn, etc, but when it's telling me to sc 1, then 8, then 3 then 17, 7 times, aren't I just sc the entire row? Do they just bre
  20. I am trying to find a way to fix my square without having to redo it. Is there any trick to that? I believe my problem is that I added too many stitches to the last 3-4 rows.
  21. My grandmother's aunt made this for her a long time ago. I want to make one for my mom but I'm not sure what these stitches are. The pattern looks complicated but I love it! I really just need the names of the stitches and I can easily look them up, but if someone wants to try to explain them to me I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

  23. Hi there! I am very new to crocheting and currently am trying to teach myself how to follow a pattern I have an amigurumi deer. I had the help of YouTube videos, but now I find myself at a lost. The part I am at says to start with a new yarn for the back leg. Then it says: "Begin at the end of ch13 from (b), work downward (see diagram). R1: ch1, 5cr (in last 5ch from the (b) ch13), t." I looked at the provided diagram and I am so, so confused. I guess what I dont understand is am I supposed to continue working on the crochet piece of the main body by stitching into it? or will I add
  24. Hello! I am designing my own patterns based off of my favorite game, World of Warcraft, and am really struggling with how to get unique shapes. Just as an example, I want to learn how to crochet Aethril (the purple/pink image linked). I am not a beginner but I am definitely not an advanced crocheter and I haven't found a good guide for oddly shaped items, like the plants in WoW. I would appreciate any help for learning how to crochet things like this. I have not found a good guide for something like this.
  25. Hi, I have completed several amigurumis in the past and I am now working on a unicorn. For some reason, I am having a really hard time with this pattern. I'm working on the front leg on row 18. I have counted my stitches from row 17 and I had 24, but at the end of row 18, I only end up with 15. Please help! Here is the link to the pattern. http://littleyarnfriends.com/post/24411665124/crochet-pattern-lil-baby-unicorn
