  1. My cousin has asked me to make her daughter a pumpkin hat for Halloween. The pattern I found is only for a newborn. Her daughter is almost 2 years old. Can someone help me make the pattern larger without compromising the piece? Pattern: Pumpkin:: Ch 25 Row 1: hdc in BL of 3rd ch from hook and in each at across, chain 2, turn (23 hdc) Row 2-23: hdc in BL in each st across, chain 2, turn Row 24: hdc in BL in each st across, chain 1, turn Joining both ends , sl st down entire length of hat through both sides, fasten off and weave in ends Stem:: Using green, join with sc in top near back seam Sc even around (about 24 stitches) , do not join, when you arrive back at your 1st sc, begin sc2tog continuously around, until 4-5 stitches remain Now sc in each st around for about 6 rounds so that you create a 1-1 1/2 inch stem . Fasten off and tuck tail inside hat and weave in ends. So if anyone can help, please.

  4. My cousin asked me to make some cute baby outfits for photo sessions. This is the first outfit. And my very first diaper cover. The secret of the hat is that it fits different sizes of baby heads - I started with rounds and then made it in rows, added the buttons so you can change the size. It wouldn't work with a regular baby hat, but it does for photo sessions!
  5. This is the hat for my youngest granddaughter. Her sister got the TMNT hat! She was so excited when she saw it. It still needed to be braided and as you can tell, we had a hard time getting her to stay still long enough to get the job done. It did finally get braided nicely, but unfortunately by that time she was sleeping, so I didn't get a pic... I used Caron Perfect Match-powder blue, RH w/Love-white, and RHSS-delft blue. It is the toddler size, and yes, I used a J hook. You can find the pattern here.
  6. On Easter my DIL and I were chatting and she told me funny story (she didn't think it was funny, lol). She was shopping with her 2 little girls and the youngest, 2 1/2 yrs old spotted a Princess Elsa nightgown. Well, she had to have it! After some pleading and puppy dog eyes and the like DIL decided to give in since they need new pj's anyway. Well she asked the older daughter if she would like some Princess Elsa pj's since she loves the movie too. Oh no! She spotted some TMNT pj's IN THE BOY'S DEPT and had to have them! ! Now, mind you, she has never seen these cartoon characters anywhere that DIL knows of! Long story short, after trying to convince her little girl that wouldn't she like some girl pj's? No, she wanted the TMNT pj's! So, that's what she got, little boy pj's. Why don't they make them for little girls? After searching for patterns after hearing about this I've found many little girls that love those guys, but they don't make any girl related items. Hmm, so, sorry I'm so long winded, but I thought it was cute and funny that she would love something that her daddy loved so much when he was a little boy. I got a call late Saturday afternoon that they would be visiting Sunday morning for Mother's Day, so I fired up my hooks and made them each a hat! Yes, they were each a big hit!!! Score one for Grammy! I used Bernat Great Value yarn-kelly green, RHSS-soft white and black, and Caron One Pound-orange. I made the child's size following he directions, but it came out way too big the first time. I ended up omitting rnd 5, but I would suggest going down a hook size. you can find he pattern here.
  7. Here is my latest recycled bag project. It's a pink baseball type cap I crocheted from some pink bags an on-line friend sent me. This was crocheted using the baseball cap pattern I create about 5 years ago. It takes about 20 bags cut into 1 inch wide plarn. I will be donating this to my Relay for Life fundrasier this year.

  9. I have a picture of a guy wearing a hat he lost. He wants me to make him one like it. He thinks it's made with bits of leftover yarn--a stash buster. I think it looks like that Red Hart variegated yarn by the picture but it's hard to tell. I can't really tell what stitch pattern is used either. I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out. Any feedback?

  18. I have a new pattern available for this crocheted knight's helmet that fits most average sized adults. The face shield is adjustable and removable. I originally designed it for my brother who wanted a unique looking beanie to wear when he rides his bike on long distances. He likes that this one keeps his face warm too and when he goes to his classes he can put the face shield up and out of the way. When I decided to start writing patterns I wanted to include pictures of the steps along with the instructions because I am a visual learner and sometimes find just written instructions hard to follow. Hopefully this pattern will be the start of many more to come. It is available in the following places for only $2.50. www.etsy.com/shop/Odatcrafts www.ravelry.com/people/helodat
