  1. Being fairly new to crochet I though I would try an easier crochet pattern as I was struggling with the vintage one I had started. I am failing at the first hurdle though - the gauge :-( Firstly I can’t get hold of the yarn asked for which is Premier Cotton Fair 3.5oz/100g/317yds/290m/3#fine weight. 52% cotton, 48% acrylic. I thought I had chosen a good alternative 100g/300m/328yds, 50% cotton, 50% acrylic. Using the suggested G hook for the gauge I should be getting 13sc x 17sc rows = 4”. Instead I am getting 19sc x 19sc rows = 4”. I’ve had to go all the way up to an L
  2. Hey Granny Square. Thank you so so much for taking the time to reply in so much detail. I think after your detailed descriptions I am getting it a bit more. Going to give it my very best and have another go at a swatch using your instructions. Yes I’m in the UK. Very jealous of your location, I just simply love the West Coast 😍. Once again, a big thank you for all the trouble you have taken with me, I am so grateful.

I wanted specifically Thank Granny Square for taking the time to respond to all my queries and answer her question below. I have tried to make a tension swatch several times and I did take note of BGs comment for my first swatch when she said she could not see in my first row the cl all round stem of next tr. I am struggling with the instructions for the ‘Cluster’ and ‘Treble Round’. I’ve attached a copy of the instructions for working these stit

  5. Hello I firstly wanted to thank everyone who has gone to so much trouble to answer all my previous posts and thank you for your patience. I am still struggling with this blouse pattern I have. I think I am reading the instructions incorrect. I think if I knew what the pattern were that this would help me and I could find a tutorial on how to create it. Can anyone tell me what the MAIN stitch pattern for the attached blouse I am attempting to make is? It looks like an arrow or V shape. thank you so much again for your patience with me. Tammy
  6. Hello Fairly new to crochet and really struggling getting started with a vintage blouse pattern. I’ve attached some photos. There are 4 rows which form the pattern of the front of the blouse. The Tension asks to make 4 pattern repeats with a no. 3 hook and this should measure 3.5 inches. I’ve only done one pattern repeat and this already measures 2 inches! I am also asked to make 10 rows on a 3.5 hook which should measure 3 inches. I am guessing by 10 rows that I crochet two X pattern repeats (8 rows) and then 1st row and 2nd row to make 10 rows, is this correct? I ca

  9. Hello, I am very new to crochet and struggling to understand what all of the below/attached tension instructions mean. I understand some (pattern repeats, hook sizes, in. = inches) but not all. If anyone could please explain the whole to me. Any help very gratefully received. Thank you so much. Tammy 4 pattern repeats to 3 1/2 in. Using No 3.00 hook: 1 pattern repeat to 1 in. Using No 3.50 hook. 10 rows to 3 in. On No 3.50 hook.
  10. Hello, Hoping someone can help me. The ‘FRONT’ part of the pattern I am about to start working on starts with double ** and ends with double **. I know * means repeat, but I am struggling what a double ** means right at the very front and right at the end of the pattern. I attach a couple of photos of the instructions. Very great full for any help. Thank you. 🙏 Tammy
