    Pattern Help

Hello Granny square, You have put so much time and effort into this I really thank you for it. So I still ch my 79 and I will get those 3 stitches at the end, skip2, crochet in the last sc. Row 2 Ch2 skip 2 stitches, (sc, ch1 DC) into the ch1 space previous row across. Sc into the top turning chain from prior row, ch2, so when you start out row 1 there really is not a turning ch, unless that is supposed to be called a turning ch. It says sc into the 3rd ch from the hook, so I should sc into that chain? Sometimes I really get confused. I just need that last chain on row 2. Please let me know if I am looking at this correctly and thank you for your patience. Mary (Red Dog)

    Pattern Help

So when starting Row 1 after I do my last SC, CH1,DC, I have 2 stitches left but should I have 3 stitches left, 2 I would skip and sc in the 3rd. I was thinking I should have only one left. Yes I am putting the stitches all in the one space and skipping 2.

    Pattern Help

This sounds so easy but I must be missing something. This pattern is for a sweater. Row 1, SC in the 3rd ch from the hook, *Work (SC,CH1,DC) into the next stitch. Skipnext 2 sts. Rep from* all the way across ending with a SC in the last stitch. I keep ending up with 2 sc at the end. Could sure use some help with this. Thanks
  11. Hi granny square, so I have finished my first square. The directions say Rnd 1: With color B, ch1, *(sc ch2 sc) in corner, work 25 sc evenly along side; rep from * around end sl st to beg ch1. Fasten off . Do not turn. Rnd2: Join color D in any corner ch-2 sp, ch1, (sc, ch2, sc) in same sp, sc in each st around, working (sc ,ch2,sc) in each corner, end sl st to beg ch1. Fasten off 29 sts each side. Since I was working corner to corner, am I only supposed to work 25 stitches down one whole side to the other corner, or I am going work 25 stitches and make 4 corners. Very confused. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks If that were the case I would be working 25 stitches down 2 sides over 42 rows and I would have 2 corners.
  12. You make the square from the bottom up increasing the width of your rows as you go and then decreasing when you get to the end.
  13. So do you think I should continue using the J hook? It still gives me the right width and maybe if I pull the stitches a little higher I can at least get 3 1/2 inches. I have plenty of yarn I can always go around it a little bit more.
  14. Yes thats what I get even pulling the stitches up. I cannot imagine I would have to use a K hook. It is an afghan. The pattern is not all dc’s it is 1/2 dc’s and single crochets. The first thing you make are 4 squares which I am doing now and then you go back and put animal faces on them so they have to be big enough to sew those on.
  15. My pattern says the gauge should be 13 dc x 7 rows = 4 inches. So I assumes 13 dc equals 4 inches and 7 rows equals 4 inches using a size H needle. I can only get 2 1/2 inches on the 7 rows so I moved to a size J needle and I can get 3 inches. I just want to be sure I am reading this right?
  16. Hello Granny Square Thanks for answering so quickly. I appreciate all the effort you have put in to help me out. You are very nice to do that. Thanks again Red Dog Thanks
  17. HI Granny Square This is great. I understand perfectly from the diagram and its not crude at all. Thank you for taking the time to do that. I don’ think I would have ever figured that out without your help. I hope I can get through without more problems. Thanks again and be safe during this crisis.
  18. Hi Granny Square I am not there yet but I thought maybe you could help me with this. Directions Back: Ch 91, Work in v-st pattern until back measures 26” ending after Row 8. The next part is the Sleeve Shaping: Row 1: Work in v-st pat across back, ch 32 at end of row to create bottom edge of left sleeve turn. Do I do another row of the v-st pattern across the back and then ch the 32? Row:2 Work in v-st pat across all sleeve and back sts, ch 32 at end of row to create bottom edge of right sleeve turn. When you have time maybe you can explain this to me. I have made sweaters before but really having a hard time understanding this pattern. I understand the back part, but the sleeves are the problem. Thanks again
  19. It looks like I can work it out from the diagram. Its just a very vague pattern and I can see from the reviews others have complained about it too. You have been a tremendous help and thank you for taking the time to help me. You are very kind. Thanks again
  20. Yes it does have a diagram and you have been so helpful. I don’t know if you can answer this question? I have tried to get hold of the pattern help people but they do not answer the phone right now because of the virus. When you get to the sleeve shaping Row 1: Work in v-pat across back, ch40 (36,32). I am doing the large size, so I am wandering if this is an error because I know pattern sizes go S, M,L, I am thinking the 40 should be for the large. I would like to know what you think? Thanks
  21. Thanks Granny Square for all your help. I wanted to give you more information. After the v-st pat: directions for 8 rows. Underneath that It says DIRECTIONS: back: for the size I am doing ch 91 Work in v st pattern until back measures 26” ending after Row 8. So I guess I did not read far enough and that this is the beginning chain for the size. Its really confusing but if I work the pattern along 91 chains it comes out right. Let me know when you can what you think.\ Thanks so much
  22. I just got a pattern for a sweater which says easy skill level. The directions start out v-st pat: (multiple of 4+3) does not give you a number to chain. I have no idea what that means. The finished chest size is supposed to be 60”. Row1: Ch 1, sc in 2nd ch from hook,*sc in next 2 chs,ch1,sk1,sc in next ch;rep from* until 2 chs rem, sc in last 2 chs, turn. It does not tell you how many chains to start with. I would appreciate any help with this. Thanks.
