    I'll try anything once.
  1. I’m getting a little adventurous and am trying to add sleeves to a pattern that I found of my grandmother’s. It’s handwritten and very similar to this little princess dress. Grandma is no longer with us and I’m trying to make her dress for her great granddaughter. Only I would like to put in sleeves so that she will be able to wear it at Christmas. Would I just add sleeves like for a normal yoke and then make shell stitches? Would the arm holes be too big? They seem rather large.
  2. Hey everyone, I am ready to put my sweater together and my pattern just says sew seams together. I want to know the best method for sewing the shoulder seams together. I watched several tutorials but all of them suggest different methods. The most suggested is the slip stitch join but it leaves a ridge. Is there supposed to be a ridge? Is there a method that is as secure as this method that doesn’t leave a ridge? what are some of the ways you join the shoulders?
  3. Oops 🙊 I guess I made a mistake when typing. I’ll post an excerpt of the pattern pattern PATTERN STITCH Nubby Pattern: (even number of sts) Row 1: Sc in first st, [hdc in next st, sl st in next st] to last st, sc in last st, turn. Rep row 1 for 108 rows. Then you work the shoulder and neck. I’m up to where I make the shoulder/neck. I added a picture of the pattern
  4. I’m at my wits end. I’ve been working a sweater tunic pattern that goes sc/*hdc/slipstitch, repeat pattern to last stitch then sc turn sc then repeat pattern of hdc/as. It’s an Annie’s pattern and I don’t want to break the rules of purchase but I have reached out to them to help with my problem and I haven’t heard back from them. It’s stalled my project. I was hoping that you might be able to help. This is my problem. I started the sweater with my widest measurement around my belly. The pattern goes bottom to top. When I get closer to the top I know I need to decrease my stitches from 110 to 8
  5. I bought an e pattern and do not have a way to contact the designer. The part that I’m having trouble with is that it doesn’t say to chain 1 to go to the next row which starts with sc in first st, [hdc in next st, sl st in next stitch] to last st, sc in last stitch. Turn. It says to repeat row for 132 rows. is there an error or is the ch1 understood or will the pattern work with out the chain 1?
  6. Hi everyone, i purchased a pattern for a crocodile stitched mermaid tail and I'm having trouble with part of the instructions. it asks to join with a slip stitch to the marked stitches but it looks weird to me. It asks to mark the third stitch at the beginning and the first double crochet of the first crocodile stitch and then at the end slip stitch to both markers. It doesn't look right to me. I've tried looking at tutorials but none of them are close to this pattern. I've crocheted this part three times now and still can't figure it out.
  7. I'm posting here because I'm not sure if it is a pattern question or a design question. I want to make a cap sleeve top to attach with buttons to my strapless sundresses so that I can wear them to work. I have searched high and low to find a pattern but nothing. Maybe I'm not using the right key words when I look. I have found several yokes that have straps but I need to be more covered up at school. I thought about a bolero but they are too long. I found some summer tops that I thought would work but the pattern is in Russian, I think it's Russian. I don't have a lot of experience readin
  8. This is what I have seen as a diamond stitch. They call diamond trellis. https://makemydaycreative.com/2014/08/21/diamond-trellis-stitch-video-tutorial/
  9. I saw a hat at hockey game. It looked as though it was crocheted. I asked the person wearing it if it was knitted or crocheted. She bought it in a store somewhere on vacation. It wasn't hand made. The pattern looked like a diamond stick but the centre of the raised part was like a star stitch but oval or almond shaped. I would have taken a picture but I didn't have my phone on me. I came home drew it out. The grey is the raised up part like in the diamond stitch and the coloured parts are like the star stitch. Has anyone seen a pattern like this or could give me some direction, that would b
  10. I fixed my earlier post. I will try that and see how I do.
  11. Help I don't understand this pattern. I found it on the internet. I tried contacting yarnovations for help. I have attached a pic of the pattern. I have looked at different tutorials and most start with a ring. I'm not understanding where the ring is coming from in this pattern. http://www.yarnovations.com/mason-jar-soap-dispenser-with-crochet-owl-cozy/
  12. So I have been practicing the yo and I am having a hard time holding the yarn in the other hand. I am trying it my old way but doing yo instead of you but I am having to retrain my brain lol. I keep wanting to do yu.
  13. Was wondering if I'm doing the YU if ever I run into it in a pattern do I do the reverse and do the "correct" YO? Going to try to learn the YO only because I like the challenge but I think I will always crochet my crazy family way
  14. I was about 9 when my grandma (who was left handed) tried to teach me to knit and crochet. When I was expecting my first baby I had a lot of time on my hands and wanted to take up crochet again. I went to my great aunt( grandma's sister, as grandma passed away when I was 13) she showed me the way she and my grandma crocheted. I'm right handed so Inthink I may have picked up the wrong way to crochet. The reason I'm asking is because I had some one tell me that I'm doing it wrong. So I'll explain the best I can. I hold the hook and yarn in the same hand, my right hand. When I yarn over my hook,
  15. I have a pattern that a friend sent to me. We live in different countries. I've tried explaining my problem to her but we are about the same experience level when it comes to crochet. The pattern asks to crochet 14 dc in a magic circle. Which is fine, I can do that no problem. The next row asks for a chain 3 and to increase in each stitch with 2 DC, now here is where I have a problem. Do I start with a single crochet in the same stitch as the chain 3 (the join of the slip stitch) and count that as 2 DC and continue on or like I have done go to the next stitch and have a big space there. Does
