    I'll try anything once.
  1. I bought an e pattern and do not have a way to contact the designer. The part that I’m having trouble with is that it doesn’t say to chain 1 to go to the next row which starts with sc in first st, [hdc in next st, sl st in next stitch] to last st, sc in last stitch. Turn. It says to repeat row for 132 rows. is there an error or is the ch1 understood or will the pattern work with out the chain 1?
  2. Hi everyone, i purchased a pattern for a crocodile stitched mermaid tail and I'm having trouble with part of the instructions. it asks to join with a slip stitch to the marked stitches but it looks weird to me. It asks to mark the third stitch at the beginning and the first double crochet of the first crocodile stitch and then at the end slip stitch to both markers. It doesn't look right to me. I've tried looking at tutorials but none of them are close to this pattern. I've crocheted this part three times now and still can't figure it out.

    Crocheted Yoke?

I'm posting here because I'm not sure if it is a pattern question or a design question. I want to make a cap sleeve top to attach with buttons to my strapless sundresses so that I can wear them to work. I have searched high and low to find a pattern but nothing. Maybe I'm not using the right key words when I look. I have found several yokes that have straps but I need to be more covered up at school. I thought about a bolero but they are too long. I found some summer tops that I thought would work but the pattern is in Russian, I think it's Russian. I don't have a lot of experience reading a pattern from a chart drawing. I work much better with a written pattern. if anyone has a suggestion on where I could look for something that would work that would be awesome!

No idea what stitch this is

This is what I have seen as a diamond stitch. They call diamond trellis. https://makemydaycreative.com/2014/08/21/diamond-trellis-stitch-video-tutorial/
  5. I saw a hat at hockey game. It looked as though it was crocheted. I asked the person wearing it if it was knitted or crocheted. She bought it in a store somewhere on vacation. It wasn't hand made. The pattern looked like a diamond stick but the centre of the raised part was like a star stitch but oval or almond shaped. I would have taken a picture but I didn't have my phone on me. I came home drew it out. The grey is the raised up part like in the diamond stitch and the coloured parts are like the star stitch. Has anyone seen a pattern like this or could give me some direction, that would be helpful.

    Crocodile stitch confusion

I fixed my earlier post. I will try that and see how I do.
  7. Help I don't understand this pattern. I found it on the internet. I tried contacting yarnovations for help. I have attached a pic of the pattern. I have looked at different tutorials and most start with a ring. I'm not understanding where the ring is coming from in this pattern. http://www.yarnovations.com/mason-jar-soap-dispenser-with-crochet-owl-cozy/

I think I've been doing this wrong

So I have been practicing the yo and I am having a hard time holding the yarn in the other hand. I am trying it my old way but doing yo instead of you but I am having to retrain my brain lol. I keep wanting to do yu.

I think I've been doing this wrong

Was wondering if I'm doing the YU if ever I run into it in a pattern do I do the reverse and do the "correct" YO? Going to try to learn the YO only because I like the challenge but I think I will always crochet my crazy family way
  10. I was about 9 when my grandma (who was left handed) tried to teach me to knit and crochet. When I was expecting my first baby I had a lot of time on my hands and wanted to take up crochet again. I went to my great aunt( grandma's sister, as grandma passed away when I was 13) she showed me the way she and my grandma crocheted. I'm right handed so Inthink I may have picked up the wrong way to crochet. The reason I'm asking is because I had some one tell me that I'm doing it wrong. So I'll explain the best I can. I hold the hook and yarn in the same hand, my right hand. When I yarn over my hook, I think that is where things go wrong. I have been doing it this way for so long I don't know if I can change. Does it matter, the person who told me I was doing it wrong said that my crochet was ugly. Just made me so upset. Someone please take a look at my pics I tried to take a picture of how I yarn over on a dbl crochet.
  11. I have a pattern that a friend sent to me. We live in different countries. I've tried explaining my problem to her but we are about the same experience level when it comes to crochet. The pattern asks to crochet 14 dc in a magic circle. Which is fine, I can do that no problem. The next row asks for a chain 3 and to increase in each stitch with 2 DC, now here is where I have a problem. Do I start with a single crochet in the same stitch as the chain 3 (the join of the slip stitch) and count that as 2 DC and continue on or like I have done go to the next stitch and have a big space there. Does any of that make sense?
  12. Hello Everyone, I'm new to this forum and I am beginner. I have made a few items hats, blankets, etc. My first project took awhile (16 years... I started when I had my first baby, then life got in the way, more babies, moving, work) but I finished it and was hooked again. My handle is Pinemom, because where I live there are pine trees lots of them and I'm a mom.
