    Minecraft stuffed ghast

This started as a carrier for what I planned to be a toss game, with minecraft themed bean bags to throw at a similarly themed mat. Once the ghast was made and I started attaching his tentacles, my kids went nuts for it, stuffing it full of toys, swinging it around etc. They loved it so much my daughter wanted me to seal the mouth and stuff it. I snapped a few pics in the assembly stage of our hamster playing in it. We thought her coloring is similar to a ghast fireball in the game, and it would be cute to get some pics with her as the projectile lol. The first is outbound, the second is return to sender
  3. A coworker of my husband is expecting her second little girl, I was super excited to makes this!

Hello Kitty granny square baby afghan

Thank you so much, it was a fun little blanket.
  5. I remember previously, maybe a few years ago, reading a link posted here for easy color change in single crochet graphgans. I have never really cared to use SC for a graph, but I'm looking to try. I've done color changes of course, but if I remember this link was very popular and there was something about it that I guess was simple and provided a good knowledge foundation for sharp and consistent graph designs. Thanks in advance if anyone remembers.
  6. I am nearly done with my GoT inspired Afghan, I made it in simple red on black with a few white embellishments. I really want a border that will inspire the feeling of flames, simple, only using red, black, and white if possible. Thanks for any ideas you can provide.

Seeking Flame- like Border for GoT afghan

That flame hat chart or the first link even are very much what I had in mind, I may try to tinker with those. On a side note, that hat is AMAZING! And once my blanket is done I'm gonna try to whip that up for my son for his bday. It makes me think of One Piece, and I'm already thinking about little embellishments for it and losing interest in my nearly complete Afghan haha.

Seeking Flame- like Border for GoT afghan

I like that one, and it has the feel of flames, but I think that might be from the colors used, and my colors wouldn't give that feel. I guess I'm looking for something that would make you feel flames from shape and/or texture. I've been toying with the idea of a red on black single crochet border maybe with an interesting assortment of stitches in the middle to give the "feel" of fire. I hope that makes sense. The design is red on black with white teeth and claws 3 headed dragon. I would estimate it is about 55 - 58 inches square. The 3 colors really make a simple pattern seem so impressive imo, so I'm looking for a border that stays simple but adds a nice strong flare. if not flames, any other suggestions are welcome that you all might think fit what I'm trying to do. Also I have never seen this show, I only know images from what I google, so if anyone responds to this as if I am in the know, I am not.

    Tsum Tsums!

My toddlers are totally addicted to tsum tsums, so I've been working on making some for them, I thought I had posted pics of pooh before, but I can't seem to find the post, so maybe I forgot :-) Anyway, here they are, I just finished Minnie, and Pooh was my first one, I'm unhappy with pooh's face, needlepoint isn't my strongest talent, but I am pretty happy with Minnie. I'm working on Mickey now. I prefer a total yarn look, so in my amigurumi stuff I don't like to use felt or fabrics for any of it, and I try to find a yarn alternative. I included some real store bought tsum tsums so anyone unfamiliar can see what they should look like.

    Tsum Tsums!

Tsum tsums are a disney money making ploy from what I can tell lol. They basically took all their characters and made them simple little blob guys. There's an app game with them where you break them in bust a move style, but instead of shooting bubbles at them, you draw a line connecting 3 or more and they disappear. But, more importantly for kids, they have toys and blind bag collections for kids to collect. They also have short videos on the Disney Jr. YouTube channel with tsum tsums having silly adventures. I even heard they have full arcade games in some cities, and the arcade game has like a sub game where you maybe do claw machine to get a tsum tsum key chain that interacts with the arcade game and gives power ups based on the character, but I've never seen this. But the catch is, they're all expensive, 4 bux per blind bag, 5 bux per key chain, the little Minnie and Pooh Bear in the pic cost 6 bux each, and they have hundreds of them for sale. So yarn, pellets, and stuffing is far less expensive.

    Minions for my kids birthdays!

I was so excited to try this. The male has a Homer Simpson kind of look, I guess my hair and goggle placement wasn't as good as it could have been. But overall I was happy with the result. My kids, my son in particular, are very rough on toys, so I really secured everything much more tightly than needed. I've been so busy lately, but I couldn't resist these guys.

    Creeper stress toy/beanie

I found this pattern on nerdigurumi. For anyone who has never used that site, it's wonderful. You can really tell she knows every stitch and its interaction with other stitches as well as the overall project. I find she has very detailed patterns and she puts a lot of thought and work into them. Her tutorials are great as well. Anyway, I put the pellets inside panty hose sacks in the head and body so even if it's squeezed hard, none will pop out.

    Minions for my kids birthdays!

Thank you all so much! I didn't secure male minion's hair well enough, so he was bald in under an hour lol. But I gave him a hair replacement procedure this morning so my fingers are crossed.
  20. This is the blanket I just finished for my son. I hope the pic posts properly, I'm doing this from my phone. I haven't gotten an iron yet, so the bottom edge rolls a bit.

Link from The Legend of Zelda- afghan

Ty! This was made in afghan stitch. I didn't follow a pattern, since Link is already divided into pixels, I just looked at a photo, and crocheted out the same squares. In any afghan stitch tho, remember the stitches are taller than wide, so it was I believe 10 stitches across and 8 high per pixel. But you could just make out a small square and measure it to fashion the size pixels you want in any stitch. You would want a couple extra rows around each side to get a proper gauge because the yarn gets moved and stretched by its neighbors. So you could easily do single crochet or anything else, but I find afghan stitch is easiest to color change and diagram for pixel projects because no special start or end is really needed per color, just a yarn held over here and there, and the rows are perfectly lined up, not alternated.
  22. Here's a bit of a question thread/rant :-) I recently moved to the city from suburbs several states away. Over the last 10 years my husband and I have moved many times, I guess maybe 6 different states. I have always been able to go to joann fabrics, and before my kids were born starting 3 years ago, I was an asst manager at one. My store was one of the big box joanns, really huge, large variety of everything. We had about 4 aisles of yarn, plus the width of those aisles of the back wall as well, so it was always a great selection. The best part was joanns let's you use multiple coupons and competitors coupons, and price matches. So I could go there with my joanns flyer with a couple coupons, the text they send with a coupon, the coupons from the joanns app, the coupons from the michaels app etc and they took em all. So last week I went to michaels here where I live now, because there literally no joanns! I asked them if they take competitors coupons and the girl said yes, I proceed to do my shopping, get my apps and such all ready, and get in the huge line. I wait for 45 mins shovelling rice cakes and granola into my angry toddlers, and then at 5 he register the sales clerk says I can only use 1 coupon. I was livid, going thru the line 8 times is out of the question, I'd be there til they close, with my screaming kids. I chose 1 skein and left. So I go home and look online, and Google seemed to think michaels site had the best price on the yarn, so I look it up, and their price was great, as good as my coypons, but I would have to buy 3 skeins of each one! I have looked in the little yarn and craft specialty shops, but they just don't have the prices I'm used to from the big box shops? What does everyone here do when there's no joanns? I've never seen a hobby lobby, but I hear they are great as well, but just not located by me? Should I drive 4 hours to joanns? Tbh it might be just as fast as this terrible michaels. Most sites even if they have good prices change way too much shipping, I've mailed many things and one skein of yarn doesn't cost 12 bux shipping. I have amazon prime, but they would only let me order yarn as an add on to a bigger order. Also a side rant about michaels, their shopping carts require a quarter to remove from the corral, and they refused to break a dollar for me without standing in line and buying something, I had to go borrow a Burlington cart. I really need to find a better store.
