A Few Things About Me

  • Real name
  • Ravelry ID
  • Short bio
I live in Irving, TX, with my wife and 3 cats (Jackson, Digby, & Gemma).

I first learned to crochet when I was in 4th grade, when my girlfriend (who was a 3rd grader) taught me. Stopped right after High School. Picked it up again ~30 years later in the summer of 2015.

  • Crocheting since...
  1. I find black yarn very difficult to work with. I have a lighted hook that helps, but it's plastic & has the wrong shape for me (I prefer Bates/in-line hooks). I've also found that hook type makes a huge difference. I constantly struggle with Boye/tapered hooks, but Bates/in-line ones work flawlessly for me.
  2. My elementary school girlfriend taught me. I was in 4th grade (9-10 years old), she was in 3rd grade (8-9 years old). I crocheted fairly regularly until some time in high-school (mid-80s), then quit. I found my hooks in storage at my dad's this past summer, and started up again. I'm 47 (will be 48 very soon). So that makes for an approximately 30-year gap.
