I found this adorable owl pattern through Pintrest and I made it last night. I will be putting it onto a baby blanket for my niece
  2. Thank you all so much for the positivity! Mom does love it! She's framing it in the nursery so it lasts as long as possible!
  3. Thank you! I figured my first piece was going to close family so I wouldn't be too embarrassed if it fell apart!
  4. This is my first ever completed project so don't be too harsh! This is for my new nephew Jacksen who will be here in September! I used the Moogly alphabet and I found the applique patterns on PIntrest (aside from the seaweed which I just made up as I went along). It's not as nice as I'd like it to be, but it's cute and I learned a lot with it being my first project! (If you can't tell, from left to right: two fish, an octopus, another fish and a whale, starfish, one more fish, and a crab at the bottom!)
  5. That's EXACTLY what I'm doing! Stabbing right through and leaving these unsightly lines of different colored yarn on the back. I didn't even think to go halfway! Thank you both so much for the advice/videos!
  6. Hello all! I am self taught and I need help. I've figured out a bunch of different stitches and patterns (yay youtube), but I can't figure out how to sew appliques onto things without seeing it on the back of the project. Is that supposed to happen? I've got over 20 afghans made by my Nanny but none of them have appliques so I don't have much of a reference, and although she would know exactly what to do, she passed many years ago and I can't ask her! If someone could help me or provide a link/picture to help me, that would be great! Thanks in advance!

    Afghan Backing

Sorry if this has been posted before (this is my first post), but is it possible to sew fabric onto the back of an afghan? I made a small one for my nephew but I don't like how I can see the thread from the appliques I sewed on so I would like to put a fabric backing on it. Is this possible and how do I do it?
  8. Hi! My name is Morgan and I'm pretty new to crochet. I've made a few blankets for my nephews, but I'm still learning! I'm a 20 year old college student majoring in special education. I'm also getting married next year (October 24, 2015). I joined this forum because I've got some questions and I would love to get some input from people more experienced than me.
