  1. One long single chain for double crochet? Or for Treble?
  2. I did too! Thanks for sharing.
  3. I live in Sumner, so we try to go to the Puyallup fair every year. I hit the quilt displays first. But where is the crochet generally displayed? Your doily is beautiful. If I see it there I'll feel like I *know* who made that.
  4. Wow! as a newbie, I'm in awe. This is probably a really difficult question to answer but I'll ask anyway. What is an estimate of how many hours of crochet time went into this project? I have no clue. 20? 500? It really is an heirloom. You should be proud.
  5. Thanks Crocus and Katchkan. It makes sense and is easier to remember that 'one turning chain for single crochet and two turning chains for double crochet.' So.....how many for treble?
  6. I am doing dishcloths with just a row of SC, then a row of DC, then SC, then DC, etc. It seems like my turning chain for DC is too big. I've been chaining 3 but does anyone just chain 2 so that hole isn't so large?
  7. That bookmark looks like a wonderful one to try. Wish I had some of that size thread. Might have to go shopping again.
  8. I ordered that book from Amazon last night. Free shipping so it will take 9 days I think. But today I bought a little book from Joann's called Learning Thread Crochet or something. Weeeeeeee! I'm so excited.
  9. THAT is what makes me want to learn thread crochet!
  10. I'm in Sumner, near Puyallup and Tacoma. Nice to meet all of you!
  11. Actually.......I haven't really done that yet. ::cough:: Yikes! Where do I start?
  12. What is a reasonable thread project for a complete newbie. I just know how to do single and double crochet.........nothing more. I so so so want to learn thread but it just looks so daunting. Thanks in advance, Molly~
  13. I'm not sure if I can figure out how to post a picture so I'll post the link to a prayer pocket that my friend Gabrielle made. I believe the doily used was store-bought and she assembled the rest. I apologize if this doesn't come through. http://us.a2.yahoofs.com/groups/g_15104125/572d/__sr_/f35e.jpg?grwvLyEBzZSBm3Ej
  14. Welcome to the board Svetlana. I'm new to crochet too. I went to Moscow in 1987 for a youth exchange camp called ARTEK (looked like APTEK) down near Yalta on the Black Sea. We were at the camp for 4 weeks and in Moscow for 2 weeks. It was amazing! I had such an unforgettable time there. I know the whole region has totally changed since then. I fell in *love* with a boy there named Alexai (Alyosha) and had my 16th birthday there. I swore I was going to move there when I turned 18. LOL Never did make it back there though, dangit! lol Molly in Washington state (near Seattle)
  15. I'm in Sumner, which is by Puyallup, Tacoma, Auburn.
