    knooking hook

I'll try the Continental and see if that goes better for me. Thanks!

    knooking hook

I bought the Knook kit a couple of months ago because I've tried several times over the years to knit and just couldn't do it. I have to say, I don't like knooking. I find the cord a nuisance. It made me decide that I have to learn to knit now, no giving up this time.
  3. I used an emery board on a brand new metal hook the other day that had a bur. Took it right off.

    Yarn problem

Thanks everyone. I'll keep working with it until I get used to it.
  5. I'm sure you've finished by now but thought I'd say that I've used Aleene's Fabric Stiffener when making snowflakes and angels. I works really well.

    Yarn problem

Okay, thanks for the suggestions. I'll try both ways. I bought a big bag of this stuff in several colors for a discount and hope I can use it for something.

    Yarn problem

Is there a trick or method for crocheting with Patons Carmen? This stuff is driving me crazy. I can't see the stitches and have to try and feel my way through. I know I'm missing stitches and am thinking about giving up on this stuff even though I like the look and feel of it.

    Cuffs and Bands

You're right, a smaller hook would probably help. Thanks

    Cuffs and Bands

That's something I hadn't thought of...crochet the elastic right in to the row. I love that idea! This opens up a lot of crochet patterns for me. Your photo with the cuff looks great. When I do the rows like that, I'm probably not crocheting tightly enough. Thanks so much for responding!

    Cuffs and Bands

Hi, I'm new here but have been crocheting for 30 years. I've always stuck to afghans, doilies and other non wearables with the exception of baby booties because of crochet seeming to not hold it's shape well. This year I decided to make some hats and hand warmers for my teenage grand daughters. Same problem. Got their slouchy hats all done and they love them but the the things stretched out after a couple of wears and now they slip down on their forheads. It feels like I've wasted a lot of time and yarn for nothing. Do any of you have a technique to solve the stretching problem? Have any of you ever run a thin cord of elastic through items and if so, does it work and look okay? I'd love to make more hats but not if this will always be a problem. Ive tried blo stitches but it didn't help much. Thanks
