    Since the 1960's
  1. Some people pick it up quick and some don't. I always get a few "I Taught Myself to Crochet" books to share with who ever I'm trying to teach. They can be a big help.
  2. Everyone is so talented!! I don't have time to do much more than crochet! I do Payroll and Human Resources but they are not very fun LOL.
  3. While your Dad is closet snooping have him check for length. I say this as I too am full figured but since I am round I prefer longer, over the tummy styles. If she has all longer tops she will not wear a shorter style even if she loves it. Just food for thought.
  4. Thank you so much!! I was thinking the old liquid starch but you jogged my memory! My Mom used to use fabric stiffener. It's off to Google I go!!
  5. I love working vintage thread patterns. I use a lot of bedspread weight, size 10 with a 7 hook. You can find vintage patterns free with Google search. The doily in my avatar is from the 1940's.
  6. Has anyone tried starching doilies or forming them? I have seen some lovely doilies that were starched around a balloon to form a round structure that was used as a light fixture. Any suggestions on how to do it and what to use as a stiffening agent???
  7. I've been crocheting since I was a little girl in the 60's. My Grandmother and my Mom taught me. I picked it back up again when I quit smoking several years ago. I love using thread but have had several births in the family so lately I'm making baby blankets! I have given away most of my projects. You can see some on my wordpress crochety crochet lady blog. I work full time but I'm ready to retire and currently hoarding thread and yarn for retirement!! LOL!! Tell me about you!
