    2019 Stashbusting CAL

2019 Stashbusting CAL This is a continuation of last year's game. With the start of the new year, you get to start with ZERO for your point score. If you want, keep your 2018 score in your signature to remind you to "Do Better". Here are the general rules: Please sign up to this thread. I will be putting all the names at the end of this post so that we know who's playing. Also, please put a line in your signature for Stashbusting score. Example: WTD=+5 YTD=+27. Please post your scores by Midnight on Saturday, so that the scorekeeper can pick them up. Shortly after that, the scorekeeper will be tallying the scores and posting them on Sunday. Please make your score easy to be seen. Large numbers and pretty colors really help. Example: WTD=+7 YTD=-9 WTD= week to date and YTD = Year to date. First (gold), second (silver) and third (bronze) will be noted on the scorekeeping list on Sunday, along with all the other scores. If you have the largest total in receiving yarn and not using it up, it is called the "Shoot the Moon" award. The "Shoot the Moon" winner from the previous week will be responsible for posting the scores the following week. If the "Shoot the Moon" winner is not available to post the scores, please contact greyhoundgrandma as early as possible so that scores can be posted in a timely manner. The scorekeeper should post by 12 noon Eastern Time on Sunday. If it will be posted at another time, due to work, church, etc., please notify the group so that they will know when to expect their scores. Scorekeeping For every skein of yarn you use up completely, you get two (2) points. For every skein of yarn that you roll into a ball, you get one (1) point. For every ball of yarn you use up, you get one (1) point. For every skein of yarn you buy, receive, or inherit, you lose two (2) points. For every ball of yarn you buy, receive, or inherit, you lose one (1) point. A skein of yarn is a brand new bundle that you have bought at a store or its equivalent. If you roll it into smaller cakes or balls, it will still count as two (2) points when you use them completely. You count points for yarn that you use in crocheting, knitting, crafting or give away. This is an on-going CAL. Feel free to join at any time! When you start playing with us for the first time, you DON'T COUNT what's in your stash. For many of us, that would be impossible. You get points when you use up what's in your stash or lose points when you add to your stash. Your first scores will be posted January 5th, and the first list of scores will be posted on January 6th for the week ending on January 5th. If you have any questions just post them to the thread. Good luck with your stashbusting! 2018 Stashbusters: darski Ellie 13 greyhoundgrandma howieann Inkked0317 KoalaLovesYarn MalisaMeesa PBLKNP pineknott TexasPurl

Mary, hope you're feeling better soon! I started taking D a couple of years ago. I'm not sure how you can live in Mississippi and be D deficient. Lol I'm hoping for a quiet holiday weekend. A friend is cooking crawfish today and otherwise it'll be the pool and cooking on the grill.

I finished the second flower motif and rolled a cake into a ball then realized that I counted the one last week as +2 instead of +1, so I'm still at 0 this week.

    Our House (Part Three)

Nice weather over all this weekend tho we did have some rain and it's a little on the hot side. DS and family came over yesterday and we cooked hamburgers/hotdogs and the kids swam. Finally got my peppers and eggplants planted in the raised bed and mulched and some squash seed planted. It's been cool and really wet here this spring so everything is running behind. I can't seem to get myself organized to get anything done in the house. The dust bunnies are going to eat us alive. Oh well, there's always next week. Yeah, right. LOL Hope everyone has a good week!

The granny stripes are pretty! Our older son is coming for a visit today. He couldn't make it Monday as originally planned. Looking forward to a quiet weekend. I finished the first petal motif in the Bernat Pop Petals Blanket CAL. I decided to make one for each of the GDs. It seems pretty heavy for the rest of the what appears to be a DC square. Hope I don't have to figure out something else. I'll probably rip it out and try the L. It seemed like a pretty straight forward pattern. I must have been having a real lapse of common sense the day I ordered the kits. I looked at the other two and they both come in small/medium and medium/large. WHAT was I thinking??!! I guess I'll try them and see if they fit anyone I know. LOL Or if they all drive me crazy, find someone to pass the kits along to. After all my game plan with crocheting is to relax, not pull my hair out.

    Our House (Part Three)

It's been a busy couple of weeks. Hope it's finally slowing down. DH's usual Tuesday apt is the only thing on the calendar. Oldest son may come visit tomorrow. 5 1/2" later the rain is finally moving out and hopefully the pool will be warm enough for swimming. At least I got some crocheting done while it rained. Finished the main part of the cars blanket. Started on a tunic but it has major size problems so I put it aside and started a shawl. I bought several plants last week that I need to get repotted. And I need to separate the volunteer tomato plants that have come up in my raised bed. My main aim for the week is to get my snacking under control and start working on losing some of the weight I've gained the last two months. Happy Mother's Day!

Well, I am thoroughly disgusted with my pattern. I started the Mary Maxim Timeless Waves Tunic kit. It uses a cotton yarn with a D hook, smaller than I usually work with, so not really "fun". I'm a third into the second round and it measures on gauge. The problem is it's huge. I'm making the XL. I currently wear between XL and XXL. The pattern says the finished bust size is 58.5" for XL which is way to big for me. The picture doesn't show it being baggy on the model, but a regular fit. I'm not sure the 52" for Large isn't going to be too big, too. I guess this is a good example of why I don't make clothes!

I wouldn't count the embroidery floss unless you are actually crocheting it instead of using it for stitching accents onto something that's crocheted. Does that make sense?

Very pretty, Debbie! I crocheted a little this week but nothing accomplished. Can't seem to get motivated. I ordered some yarn so I'll be in the negatives next week. WTD 0

I'm sorry you're having a problem getting in. I know there are people that are having an issue or have had one, but I don't know any specifics on it or how it was resolved.
