  1. Hi all I have been looking everywhere and trying to find out what the best acrylic yarn is and the best cotton dk yarn? I use Stylecraft Special dk which is fab quality but doesn't really have all the colours I am looking for. Does anyone know some good online stores in the UK for yarn and some other brands of acrylic? I know of Texere, Celtic Cove which is also called something Stash i think, Black Sheep Yarns and my fav shop Masons Needlecraft. Are there any others?
  2. Hi everyone I have just realised that I have never introduced myself on here! How rude of me. I do apologise and I apologise to for not coming on here as often as I would like. I am one of the many unemployed looking for work and this tends to take up a lot of my time. I have been crochetin now for about 9 or 10 months and I LOVE IT!!!!! My mother tried to teach me when I was younger but at that age I had no patience for it. Anyway, I promise to drop in as often as I can
  3. I have been looking around today & found a number of books I am really interested in but would love to know your opinions on them & if they are all worth getting or some more than others! Learn to crochet Crocheted throws and wraps Compendium of crochet techniques Crochet stitch bible Crochet edgings and trims 201 Crochet Motifs, Blocks, Patterns and ideas Essential crochet None of the shops near me sell these books so my only option is to view them online though i would love to page through them!
  4. thanks for the welcome both! No have not been doing it long. I started learning the at beginning of the year and just love it now! I am trying different patterns lol and loving it! So addictive
  5. I think this is a fantastic idea to work on a project like this. It will be such a wonderful reminder of an amazing achievement. I think i am going to do this as i have A LOT of weight to lose and i never seem to be able to stick to anything! I am going to do an Afghan. I think i will pick a pattern i love the most (one that is also a bit difficult for me so it makes it an even bigger achievement!)
  6. Lucky u lol i wish it was that cheap for us in the UK! Prices are crazy here and the tax makes it worse! Anyway i have bought the one from Annies Attic. It may be too advanced for me but my aim is to do it! Thanks all for your help
  7. ok, what about the Cathedral Rose Window Afghan?
  8. Hi there yes i have looked on both and it seems more available in USA than here. Thanks though
  9. hi i have looked in our local library and they have none. I have 2 books i bought but they don't have that actual one. I have done all the other squares that are in there and am now starting on the crochet flowers. As for the book, i have seen it on amazon.co.uk for close to £20 which is more than i can spare at this tough financial time. I understand completely about the whole copyright thing. Thanks for the help though, maybe in time i will get my hands on it
  10. Hi there i am new here and seeking some info. I have recently over the past 5 months, become a huge fan of crochet. I have been looking at some of the books available and wondered if anyone knows what the best one is for various granny square/afghan patterns? Also my big question is about a book called 50 Sensational Crochet Afghans & Throws. It is not one that is easy for me to get and costs a fair amount from places i can get it but the only thing i want is to know what the name of the pattern on the cover is? Or if anyone knows the instructions for it etc? I think it is beautiful. Thanks in advance
