  1. I too live on Long Island and unfortunarly I have had a similar experience at a LYS. Also, my best friend's sister-in-law owns a LYS in New Jersey, and when I told her that I crochet, she responded in a very condescending way. It seems as though many of the LYS's are geared toward knitters, and are very closed minded about our favorite craft, On the other hand, there is at least one LYS here on Long Island that I have found to be very friendly and helpful to crocheters. So they are not all bad.
  2. Great job. In which issue of Crochet! magazine did you find the stitch pattern?
  3. I'm here too. I been busy with other things lately, so I haven't spend much time on Crochetville recently. But I have been crocheting! So sure, I'd get together again.
  4. Welcome from another Long Islander. Plus I'm also 59. Crochetville is great. You're going to love it here.
  5. Absolutely! I always take yarn and hooks on vacation. And I also love cruises. We're taking a Caribbean cruise in January--can't wait.
  6. Just adorable--and the hat too! I have 2 grandsons, so I love seeing crochet for boys.
  7. I haven't personally used Cottonease, but I had the opportunity to see and touch an afghan that someone else made using this yarn. It was both beautiful and soft as butter. I would definitely recommend using it for an aghan.
  8. Welcome Margaret. This is a great place with great people. Glad to have you on board.
  9. What a great looking rug. Perfect for a boy's dorm room. Did you use several strands held together? Did you make up the pattern yourself?
  10. It's gorgeous and perfect for a little boy. I would never have known you ran out of the twist yarn. It looks like you planned it that way.
  11. Beautiful afghan. I'm sure she will love it.
  12. You did a fantastic job on it. I love it.
  13. I vote for no edging. It looks fantastic just the way it is.
