  1. I've been making a lot of hats lately. Seems like all my friends and family wanted them for the holidays. I bought the It's a Hoot! Owl hat pattern and made these two hats from it. The first one I did as the pattern was written. The second one I only made 2 of the owls, because I didn't have enough buttons for all six of the owls on the first one. The grey hat was made with ILTY in grey. The other was made with something I picked up at Joann's, but I'm not sure what the brand was. I have a major love of cables, so when I saw this pattern for sale, I had to snatch it up! I made this with ILTY in brown. It is super squishy and soft. I'm pretty sure this is going to be my go to hat for all new babies in my family. Thanks for looking! (This is my first time posting some of my work here. I hope I did it right. I think I saw somewhere that we need to put where we got the pattern and what yarns we used, so I tried to do that.)
  2. Hello! Welcome! I hope you can find someone on here that has some in their stash! Do you have a pic of how much is done? I'd love to see it!
  3. Hi there! I'm in WNY snow country! I've never tried Doris Chan patterns before. Welcome!
  4. I'd like to join in on this. I have so many little ones that I have to make things for. Nothing big for many of them, but at least something to wrap up and give (cousin's children). I really need to get started early on this so I am not rushing around at the last second, as that seems to be what usually happens. I was able to get something sewed up for all of them this year, but sewing really isn't my thing. I am much happier crocheting. SInce I'm new to the crochetalong thing, how does this work? Do we make ourselves a list of people we need to craft for and keep coming back and checking off when we complete things? And can we link to the patterns we are thinking of using to make the items? Like putting a Ravelry link? If so, I will start making my list now, since that doesn't really change... unless someone pops out another baby. Cousin's kids ... Smaller items: Kalen Alex Evelyn Katie Warren Shelby Kolt Josh Nieces & Nephews ... Larger items: Dallas - Slipper Socks Cheyenne Sierra Zak - Slipper Socks Vinnie - Slipper Socks Xander - Slipper Socks Nellie Vera Makenzie My Boys ... Largest items: Timmy - Slipper/Loafers Niko - Slipper/Loafers Adrian - Slipper/Loafers
  5. We meet up in Brocton, NY at Woolgathering. There are 2 ladies from North East and 1 lady from Erie that come up. We meet Wednesdays at 6pm. There can be anywhere from 10 ladies to 25 ladies. The third Wednesday of the month is always Potluck night and we all bring food. We normally all do our own things. There are knitters, crocheters, spinners, and embroiderers there. Every summer, though, we have a project. This summer it is socks. Last summer it was to do a patchwork type afghan. I think the summer before that they did the tree of life afghan. It's a really great and really diverse group of ladies. I love it there.

  8. Hey everyone! I'm from Chautauqua County.
  9. I'm a little late to the conversation, but I live in NY, but only 40 minutes from Erie, PA. We have knitters & crocheters group here every Wednesday and a few ladies from Erie come up.
  10. It's awesome! What a great way to use up all those little scraps!
  11. Hi, I'm Catrina from WNY and have been lurking and reading on crochetville for a while. I just love some of the stuff you all make and have been green with envy over your talent! My gram taught me to crochet when I was about 7. I made a few things, but by 8 had put down my hooks. I picked them up again a month ago (I'm now 31) and it's like I never put them down. I'm on a mad dash to create a ton of Christmas presents for everyone in my family now. I have a large list and a limited amount of time (having 3 little boys, who really has any time?), so I'm staying up late at night to try to get everything done. I look forward to getting to know some of you awesome crocheters! Smiles, Cat
