Since I was about 8 years old, my grandmother taught me
  1. Well, I decided on worsted weight. I bought two pounds of the Caron yarn, and I have red heart for the rest. Since he is not likely to be in a combat zone, and will probably be washing it alot, I decided not to use the wool.
  2. Thank you so much to all of you for your help. I found the magazine I was looking for. It had slipped down underneath all my other magazines in the drawer. I was looking for my Tunisian crochet hooks, and found the magazine. Now, what do I need to look for next so I can find those hooks - hmmmm. . . . . . . . .
  3. Thanks quiet heart. I also thought of Caron Simply Soft, but thought it might be too lightweight. He is either going to Germany or Arizona. Sure wish I knew! I guess the nights will be cold both places. The ILTY IS easy to find. Maybe that's what I'll use.
  4. I am seeking the second half of the "Cuddle Up Afghan" pattern that appeared in Crochet World magazine in the February 2004 issue. It begins on page 38. I have contacted the publisher by email twice, but have had no response. I was hoping someone on here could help me out. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give me! PS - I had that subscription for 2003 and 2004, if anyone needs anything from any of those issues. I also subscribed to Crochet magazine for both years.
  5. What kind of yarn are you using? I am trying to decide whether to go with ww or wool ease.
  6. Thank you all so much for your help. I found a great pattern. Now I just have to get busy. I have until early May to finish it before he finishes Tech School. Wish me luck!!!
  7. I am seeking a pattern for an afghan featuring the USAF logo. If anyone has seen any such pattern, please send me an IM. Thanks! My son just finished Basic Training, and is possibly going to Germany for four years. I would like to send a warm afghan with him. If I can't manage the logo, I may just make one with the Air Force colors -- dark blue and silver/gray. Thanks again!
  8. My kids ask me all the time if I can crochet quieter. They tease, but they all LOVE what I make for them. Usually I am making things for others. I hope they realize some day how much it blesses me. It also gives me something to do with my hands. I used to smoke.
