  1. For the sheep and wool festival. I'm so excited. My first one. I almost feel the same way I did the first time I saw James Brown in concert! http://www.sheepandwool.com//general-information/index.asp

    Music While Crocheting?

There's a podcast called Deadpod I download every week. It's a guy out of Missouri that plays Grateful Dead shows from all different years. My personal favorites are from 1970 to 1977. I have been getting a lot of Frank Zappa lately too. The old stuff from the sixties and early seventies like Hotrats, Jazz from Hel, Freak Out, Zoot Allures. The first time I heard Bongo Fury it changed my life.

I have an idea for a website

There's some pretty good ones. If I could say my wife loved me that would work. She loves me most of the time anyway.
  4. Catering to men who crochet and I don't seem to see too many that are out there. I have a few ideas and wouldn't even know where to start. Like one thing: a name. I was thinking Yarnmen.com or something equally as dumb. Stitchmen.com?? Suggestions? W.I.P.'s Poncho for myself. My first handbag for my wife (Drawstring). Afghan for the bed. Another handbag that I have no clue how to construct but started anyway.

    Anyone from New Jersey

I grew up in Milltown. A block away from Parkview School. I'm presuming it's the Milltown in Middlesex County. Currently reside in Manville in Somerset County. And why do you park on a driveway and drive on a parkway?

    Hat question

I found a pattern to do a beanie hat and I'm not quite sure if this is the right way to do it. The pattern starts at the top and calls for an increase in the round until you get to six. A single crochet until you get to the last stitch and put two singles in the last stitch and follow the pattern. Then you're supposed to get the tube effect until you finish. The problem is that if you stop at six rounds so there are sixty stitches in the ring, the hat looks like someone that had their head shrunk by a witch doctor should be wearing it. So I continue to seven rounds and it looks at least like a decent size. I just want to know if you folks think this looks okay. This particular one I finished to the point where it's just below my ears.

    Yes! They ARE Twins!

Did they graduate from Rock and Roll High School? Too bad CBGB is no more. You'd make a killing there.

Can I ask a potentially dumb question?

    Cool. Thanks for the help.
  10. For instance, when an instruction says ch2, are you actually chaining 3 since the loop on the hook doesn't count as a chain? Not quite the chicken before the egg question but it would clear something up for me.

Yes- I'm a man and like to crochet

Please let me clear up something. I still smoke. Trying to stop at some point. And being sober is something I should have done a long time ago. If people drink around me it doesn't bother me as much anymore. I just avoid those situations if at all possible. I generally don't like people congratulating me. Keeps me humble. Although I don't mind if people know about it these days. ****, everybody knew I had problems before I did. At least now I can help someone which is my responsibility as a recovering person.

Yes- I'm a man and like to crochet

Thanks. What I'm interested in now is learning how to crochet rosaries. Send them to the troops, make as gifts, that type of thing. If anyone has a link for me to see I'd appreciate it.
  13. Simon, age 48 from Central New Jersey. A few years ago I made a lame attempt at quitting smoking. To keep my hands busy I learned to crochet and knit. The quitting smoking has been off and on for the most part, actually downright diffucult. I got sober back in August of 1995 hence my username. The date I quit drinking. In my area I am known as that guy that crochets at AA meetings. At least I'm not known as the guy who doesn't remember what he did the night before anymore. I came upon this forum doing a goolge for crochet forums and like what I see. I will try to take pictures of some of the stuff I've made and post them. I suck at reading patterns but I'm still learning. I learned how to make a granny square recently and am going nuts with that.
