  1. OH it looks like you ladies had a fabulous time meeting up! I was able to do that a few years ago as well, totally great when you can see the person on the other side of the screen name and share your love of crochet together.

I received a wonderful stocking stuffed with goodies today from JustAddGlitter! The adorable stocking in my favorite colors and also the theme on my tree :) A cute little candy sled with lots of goodies and an extra chocolate peppermint candy, a coffee mug with a Joy theme (which will be used exclusively this season for my morning cup), a beautiful ornament with metallic crochet thread (my it looks amazing), a notepad with "Oh what fun" on the pages in pretty silver, a pack of holiday kleenex for my purse (I've been needing those!) and a skein of RHSS in a wintery blue color.

Thank you so very much Maggi for this lovely, thoughtful package! I love it all! You are indeed my Christmas angel being as I was a little late to the game signing up after everyone had already been paired. Wishing you, and everyone here a blessed holiday season this year!

  2. I have a funny story!

I think I was about 9, my brother 8 and 2 of my little sisters (7 & 6 at the time) were all at my parents for our first (and last) Christmas together (My grandparents raised me so being at my parents was new). There was a tree in the living room next to the big windows. Across the curtain rod were all of the stockings since there wasn't a mantle. My brother and I woke up sometime in the middle of the night and saw that there were candy canes sticking out of those stockings. Well, being little, of course we wanted to climb up and get them. So we retrieved a chair out of the kitchen. I climbed into the chair, he climbed on my shoulders. He leaned over to grab one of the candy canes... leaned a little too far and we both went tumbling into the tree, which our sisters were asleep under!! We crashed landed our Christmas tree onto our little sisters! They weren't too happy but we got them quieted down and realized what happened. Half of the glass ball ornaments (back before shatter proof plastic ones) were smashed. But our parents didn't hear the crash. So we got some glue, mashed a bunch of the pieces together and attempted to hide what had happened. That of course didn't work come morning, but we thought we were so cleaver! It's one of my favorite memories, especially since in adulthood my siblings and I can't seem to find a single common denominator. This however, still gets laughs from all of us when we talk about it. Good times.

  3. I still have those last couple of things to work on this weekend... Nothing is going to fit in the stocking at this point. LOL

I have been super busy at my new job... and I :heart it! Of course I am still in training and it's only day 3, but I swear it is the best environment. You wouldn't think so being a detention center, but the staff is amazing and thus far the inmates are courteous & respectful. Seems no one wants to bite the hand that passes out the meds. LOL

Doc appointment coming up Monday for my last ultrasound before scheduling surgery. CCMA exam in just over 2 weeks. Where is this month going? It's already passing by so quickly!

  4. ... One of the stuffers doesn't fit in the stocking!  :lol But that's ok right? LOL The others do!

Had a busy, busy week! Been crocheting my fingers to the bone not only for this swap but it's the holidays... people want gifts...  which means more $$$ for  :yarn I just can't say no to that!

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Off to get some much needed  :sleep

  5. Good morning ladies!

Finished up the stocking and a couple goodies this weekend.  :cheer

My job is on hold (waiting in the wings so to speak) until I get my last certification exam taken. I've been contacting the school so hopefully they'll get back soon. I want to be able to complete at least my training hours before my surgery the week before or of Christmas. In the meantime, lots of crocheting & other crafty goodness to be done!

Off to weave some ends in... and start the other part of this stuffer...  :yes

  6. Hershey, my condolences  :cry

No tooth tale from me, but instead...

<----- this girl is finally getting a job using all those degrees & certifications! I am going to start my medical career as a medical assistant at the local detention center, part time in the evenings, making my own schedule of hours, 3 minutes from home, making an actual livable wage!  :clap Pushing a med cart & paperwork. Not the most glamorous but definitely a start! I haven't taken the exam to be certified yet because of the cost out of pocket, but now I don't even have to worry about that, the facility is going to pay for it!  :cheer

Finished up the stocking for JustAddGlitter last night. Moving on to the goodies next! So many things in mind. Time to narrow it down and make some decisions and go with it.

  7. Good evening ladies! Been chatting it up with Maggi, who by the way I'm now considering my swap hero lol.

It feels so great to be back on here I'm nearly bursting at the seams! I've missed this wonderful place so very much.

Been doing a lot of planning today. Was nearly able to get started but hubby is tired after taking care of me since yesterday and I'm not too keen on sitting at the desk instead of here on the comfy bed. So that will have to be tomorrow. Gives me more time to come up with ideas.

Until tomorrow! *Hugs & Prayers for Everyone*

  8. Oh yes, I'd love to join in. I have a few weeks of recovery headed my way. Going in for minor surgery in the morning and will have plenty of time to crochet away! Sorry couldn't get back to you all until today. Patty,I'll copy the survey and get started right away! Thank you again!

  9. I just sent out your email. I know, hard to believe that no one else participated! Normally I would be joining but I can't commit to any other activities at this time. I hope you ladies have fun and I will be anxious to see what goodies are exchanged!

  11. IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN
    TIME FOR THE
    2014 HOLIDAY GIFT EXCHANGE

    NOVEMBER 1st - DECEMBER 20th 2014

General Swap Requirements: Each swapper will send at least one package containing items that reflect your partners special holiday or any fun items that they ask for. Minimum value $25, not including the price of postage.

This is an exchange where getting to know your partner is very important!! The biggest part of having a fun exchange for both people involved is good communication. Email your partner at least once a week. Read their survey and ask questions.

This swap is NOT about receiving a package yourself --- it's about sending a personalized thoughtful present to your partner, with the side-added benefit of receiving a package put together just with you in mind in return.

Swap Dates: This swap starts  November 1, 2014 and ends December 20, 2014. All packages must be received by the ending date, so the mailing deadline for this exchange is December 13, 2014. All packages MUST be in the mail by December 13, 2013 (mailing deadline).

Remember: Crochetville admin limits Villagers to two swaps at one time. If you are already signed up for two swaps, one must be completed before the Holiday Gift Exchange starts for you to be eligible to swap. See the Swap Guidelines. A swap will count as completed if you have mailed your final package and delivery confirmation information shows your package has been received OR your swap partner has posted a thank-you in the swap thread.

    GUIDELINES:

Here are the rules. Please read them thoroughly before signing up.

    1. Please submit a survey if you want to participate in this exchange. (See second post for Survey information.) Surveys should be emailed to the swap coordinator, tiffer93 AT gmail DOT com. You will receive a confirmation email when your survey is received, and your username will be added to the list of swappers posted below. Surveys can be submitted until 5 p.m. EST (New York City) on October 31, 2014.

    2. It is not required that you answer all the questions on the survey (except for name, address, and Crochetville nickname), but it is a good way for your partner to know your other preferences: favorite color, allergies, etc. If you have been in a recent swap, you may want to let the hostess know who your swap partner was, so you are not accidentally teamed again (this has happened).

    3. By submitting a swap survey, you agree to follow all Swap Guidelines and general forum guidelines. Please note—there is now a new requirement re: digital patterns.

    4. Partner assignments will be e-mailed to you by November 1, 2014. Packages must be POSTMARKED BY  December 13, 2014. **Proof of shipping is required whenever it is available (see Swap Guidelines for details), and the delivery confirmation number must be emailed or PM'd to the swap hostess.** All packages should be received by the end of the swap on December 20, 2014.

    5. E-mail or PM the coordinator, tiffer93 AT gmail DOT com, when you receive your partner information at the start of the swap, and when you send and receive your exchange item(s) so that she can keep record of who sent and received. This is in addition to posting to the swap thread that you mailed or received your assigned partner and your packages. Lots of messages are posted to the swap thread daily. Please don’t make the swap coordinator go through all those messages to see if you sent/received your package!!! Remember, these emails or PM's are now required of all Crochetville swappers. Failure to do so will result in the accumulation of reputation points.

    6. Please thank your partner for their thoughtfulness when you receive your package. It will make his or her day. **Thank-you’s MUST be posted on the swap thread, but you can post links to your blog for photos, etc., if you choose. Thank-you’s are REQUIRED!!**Please also thank your partner personally with a private email, as well as a post to the swap thread. The private thank-you lets your partner know that their package has been received, and the public thank-you lets the other swappers know what you received and adds to everyone’s enjoyment of the exchange. Both public and private thank-you’s are required.

    7. Make sure your postage and receiver's address are correct before mailing. Mark your package with Holiday Gift Exchange.  Do not forget that delivery confirmation (or other proof of shipping) is required whenever it is available, and the delivery confirmation must be emailed to the swap coordinator. This provides proof of mailing in case your package is lost during transit.

    8. If you have a problem with your partner or an item you receive, please DO NOT post complaints to the swap board. Please PM or email the swap coordinator privately.

    9. If your package is not postmarked by the Mailing Deadline of December 13, 2014, you will be subject to the consequences listed in the Swap Guidelines. Please contact the swap coordinator BEFORE the mailing deadline passes if there is a problem.

    10. Since we are an international group, everyone is more than welcome to participate. That means that your exchange partner may live across the world and packages may take longer to arrive and cost more to ship. Keep this in mind when mailing items.

    11. Most importantly, have fun! Happy Swapping!!

    PRIVACY INFORMATION:

The information you provide on your survey is provided to assigned swap partners. Information may also be provided to the Swap Coordinator Leader (DesertCrocheter) and Crochetville administration (AmyS and Donna) for the purposes of swap coordination only. Crocheters are very creative and use a variety of items for marking stitches. Be sure to talk to your partner to get ideas about what they would like to receive. Communication in this swap is extra important! Extras may be included, but are not required. Get creative!

A black/pink/white cloth ~ she said for dishes but there's no way I would use it for that! Instead, it's going to be one my face cloths :)

A box of hot cocoa mix for the kiddos

~There was also a box of Skittles inside one of the containers, but they didn't last long enough to make it into the pic ;)

Leather cord for my jewelry making! Several different colors. I have been making leather bracelets a lot lately and was beginning to run out of cord! Again, mind reader I am telling ya!

Stamp pendant blanks, also for jewelry

    Crimp covers

Bailey4 it has been such a pleasure to be paired up with you for this swap! You made so many wonderful goodies and it warms my heart that it was on my account! Thank you for being such a great partner! Thank you for everything!

  17. I'm so glad it made it to you and that you like it! This is one of my favorite swaps because it gives me a chance to get out of my own comfort zone with colors and try to find things that I hope compliment the tastes of my partner in their favorite colors. It has been such a pleasure chatting with you and getting to know you Bailey4! I am anxiously awaiting for the mail to arrive Monday, I know the goodies inside will be right up my alley!

  18. Yay Bailey4, your package went out today also. They'll likely cross paths! I am anxious not only to receive, but also wondering if you'll like your goodies too! :)

Ladies, just a reminder that the mailing deadline is approaching. April 9th is the last day to mail out so get me those confirmation #s as soon as you can!
