  1. Oh I love those myth busters too. They are so funny. And if I saw your Jaime walking down the street I wouldn't be able to recognize him from the real one. TOO TOO CUTE.
  2. :2snowWELL, I LOVE TO CROCHET AND IT'S BEEN SNOWING HERE FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS; I SAY THAT'S THE PERFECT TIME TO SNUGGLE IN WITH A BAG FULL OF YARN AND STAY WARM! THAT IS TO SAY....HELLO FROM MICHIGAN; WHERE IF YOU WAIT FOR THIRTY MINUTES THE TEMPERATURE WILL CHANGE AND YOU'LL BE TOO HOT TO BE CUDDLED UP WITH A BAG FULL OF YARN.. I KNOW, I KNOW. IT'S NEVER TO HOT TO CROCHET; JUST TURN ON THE AIR AND YOUR OFF ON ANOTHER YARN-TANGLEING TANGENT. I JOINED "CROCHETVILLE" PROBABLY A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO OR MORE BUT HAVE'NT DONE TOO MUCH HERE. I CHECK IN TO SEE WHAT EVERYBODY'S WORKING ON AND THAT ALWAYS INSPIRES ME. I'M A RETIRED HAIRDRESSER AND I MISS CUTTING HAIR BUT CROCHETING (AND KNITTING...IS THAT A BAD THING TO SAY HERE? ) HAVE FILLED A LITTLE OF THAT VOID. I LOVE TO MAKE STUFF FOR MY FRIENDS KIDS. HATS, SCARVES, PURSES, BELTS. THE TWO GIRLS LOVE THE "FASHION ACCESSORIES" THE BEST. I USE THEM AS MY SOUNDING BOARDS FOR STYLE AND COLORS BEFORE I SEND THEM OUT TO ANYONE ELSE. RIGHT NOW I'M WORKING ON A BAGFUL OF SLIPPERS TO DONATE TO THE SAFEHOUSE IN A NEARBY TOWN. I FIGURE THOSE WOMEN AND CHILDREN USUALLY RUN OUT OF THEIR HOMES WITH JUST WHAT THEY CAN GRAB ON THE FLY AND A NICE COZY PAIR OF SLIPPERS WILL BE SOMETHING NICE TO CUDDLE IN WITH. WELL, I'VE RATTLED ON QUITE ENOUGH. IT'S GOING TO BE FUN HERE. AND LIKE I SAID BEFORE, HALLO FROM THE GREAT STATE OF MICHIGAN---THE ONLY STATE CONNECTED TO ITSELF BY A BIG-LONG-BRIDGE!!! HEHE
  3. HELLO TO ALL YOU AUSSIES FROM THE GREAT STATE OF MICHIGAN USA. I TOO STUMBLED ACROSS CROCHETVILLE WHILE SEARCHING FOR A PATTERN. LOOKS LIKE IT'S GOING TO BE FUN. MAYBE WE'LL MEET AGAIN IN "TOWN". LOL KEEP ON STITCHIN'!
  4. BAGS OF YARN, PATTERN BOOKS, HOOKS, SCISSORS, YARN NEEDLES, MEASURING TAPE, MORE HOOKS, TELEPHONE, REMOTE CONTROL, DIET COKE, A COUPLE OF COOKIES, AN AFGHAN FOR MY LAP...and please don't talk because I'm counting. OH, DID I MENTION MORE CROCHET HOOKS?
  5. MY GRAMMAW MOORE. WHEN I WAS ABOUT SIX YEARS OLD I WOULD WATCH HER MAKING PINAPPLE DOILIES AND TABLE CLOTHS WITH WHITE THREAD AND THAT TINY LITTLE SILVER HOOK; THE WAY THE THREAD JUST FLOWED THROUGH HER FINGERS AND HOW THE PINEAPPLE MAGICALLY TOOK SHAPE RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES. I KEPT ASKING HER TO TEACH ME AND SHE KEPT TELLING ME TO WATCH WHAT SHE WAS DOING. I SILENTLY THOUGHT SHE WAS BEING KIND OF MEAN ABOUT IT BUT I JUST KEPT WATCHING. ONE DAY SHE SAID, "HERE YA GO" AND SHE HANDED ME A BALL OF BLACK RUG YARN AND A GREAT BIG CROCHET HOOK AND LEFT ME TO MY OWN DEVICES. I WENT OFF BY MYSELF INTO THE "OTHER" LIVING ROOM AND STRUGGLED AND SWEATED OVER THAT CLUNKY, CHUNKYBALL OF YARN UNTIL I HAD MANFACTURED A RATHER KNOTTY, LOPSIDED, CIRCULAR POTHOLDER-LIKE CREATION. I WAS VERY PROUD OF IT EVEN IF IT WASN'T ONE OF THOSE BEAUTIFUL, SPARKLY, WHITE, LACEY PINEAPPLE TABLE CLOTHS I'D BEEN WATCHING HER CREATE FOR SO LONG. BUT...SHE WAS RIGHT. JUST WATCH AND YOU'LL FIGURE IT OUT. THANKS GRAMMAW. SHE'S BEEN GONE FOR MANY YEARS NOW BUT WHENEVER YOU VISIT ANY OF MY AUNTIES HOUSES YOU'LL SEE SOME LITTLE PINEAPPLEY CONFECTION THAT SHE STITCHED TOGETHER OVER HER LIFETIME.
  6. WHEN I SAW MRS. WEASLEY'S SWEATER IN THE HARRY POTTER MOVIE I ABSOLUTLY LOVED IT BUT...DUH...I NEVER EVEN CONSIDERED MAKING IT. YOURS LOOKS TERRIFIC. I'M NEW HERE AND DON'T KNOW EVERYBODY OR HOW TO FIND OUT EVERYTHING THAT GOES ON...WHO IS SHELL AND HOW DO I CONTACT HER TO GET MRS. W'S FABULOUS SWEATER PATTERN? THANKS SO MUCH.
  7. Before the WORLD WIDE WEB entered my life I searched for years for a pattern that I now know is called a magic square. You all probably know what it is. After talking to many people I finally figured out how to do it. Well, as I was manufacturing my umpteenth magic square potholder one day, I thought, I think i could make a purse out of this. I'll just make it up to this point, crochet it up a few inches higher on this side to make a flap and VOILA, I had a cute little clutch-like hand bag. One thing led to another and I modified the origingal pattern with different sized hooks, every kind of scrappy yarn in my bag from thread to the cheapest, coursest yarn. They are all sizes and shapes with little fold over closures or drawstrings. Lined and unlined. I've got a blue million of the crazy things. I love them. I give them away. I give them to little girls. I even use them as gift wraps. It's crazy. I can't get enough of them. If I'm bored and there's a ball of yarn and a hook nearby I go on autopilot and the next thing I know I've got three more little bitty "modified-magic square-pursies laying in my lap. SOMEBODY PLEASE STOP ME!
  8. I HATE Homespun. I'm making Martha's comeing home poncho for my sister (her request and her choice of yarn). Maybe knitting with it would be easier but I just can't get it to slip through my fingers with the crocheting. I can't keep my gauge; it's either too loose or too tight. GRRR!!! I will be sooo happy when it is finished...thank-you very much!
  9. I started knitting the classic diamond shaped dish cloths two or three years ago and everybody loves them. My sister needed a wash cloth one morning and had to resort to one of her new dish cloths I'd made for her and fell in love with it. Now every three or four months she brings me a couple of balls of SUGAR AND CREAM to replenish her supply. I have fun experimenting with stitches and shapes and she gets squeaky clean. I love 'em too!!! Get yourself a big ball of yarn and go mad. ;>D
