  4. My grandma wanted me to make her some crochet covered hangers. This is what I made for her. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a36/yarnlover66/hangersforgmaparisdec07.jpg
  5. I am glad I found this posting because my grandma told me the other day that she had bought two crochet covered hangers years ago at a craft show and wish she had more of them. SHe wants me to make her a few and I came out on line to look for patterns. I didn't see these ones. I might try one of these for her. I think she'd be happy with any of them. I tried sc'ing around the hanger and boy was that tedious!!!! Post pics of you guys get them made. I also think that these would make great gifts. I might even make a set for each of my co-workers for christmas next year--at least that is my idea for now.....might change half way through the year. I just found this hanger pattern also. http://www.frugalhaus.com/homepage/downloads/NP1.pdf toodles!
  6. Get a picture of your brother in it! It is gorgeous! You did a wonderful job!
  7. Thank you for all of your compliments. I feel like a kid again. I can't wait until Christmas to give it to her! LOL
  8. I always fill my mom's Christmas stocking. This year we weren't able to find hers. I decided that I'd just make her one instead of going out and buying one. I'm happy with how it turned out. She'll be surprised! http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a36/yarnlover66/momschristmasstocking22007.jpg I used this pattern, but I didn't make the toe as pointy as the the pattern said to. http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/clc-stocking.html?noImages=
  9. Thank you for your suggestions. I bought some size 3 thread/yarn and it was too bulky. I might try the embroidery floss. i've never crocheted with that before. I'd love to see pictures if anyone else has made this little guy!! Livedinalaska--your snowmen are adorable! Thanks for sharing the picture!
  10. Has anyone made this snowman pattern in the latest issue of Hooked on Crochet? http://www.annieshookedoncrochet.com/content_detail.html?_id=34 I can't find orange thread anywhere to make his nose. Any ideas what I can use instead??
  11. Obviously the ebay seller isn't too bright. They can't even spell. Look at the write up and even the title of the auction. HELLO?
  12. Where is the pattern from?
  13. Vanna White is supposed to talk about her yarn tonight on Wheel of Fortune. Hope someone else hasn't already posted this. Sorry if they have. I didn't see another posting. Tune in to Wheel of Fortune on September 25th, when Vanna White and Pat Sajak talk about Vanna’s favorite yarn, Vanna's Choice, and her work with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Check your local listings for exact showtimes.
  14. Here is the afghan I just finished last night. I am made it for a wedding pressent. The wedding is this Saturday, the 29th. Hope they like it.
  15. Check this out! There is a CAL on here. I have never done a graph before either. I joined this CAL, but had to postpone to make a wedding present. WHen that is done, I'm going back to my graph ghan. http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53040
  16. jelepe makes me want to cry. Thank you for your compliments and so sorry to hear about your g'ma.
  17. I just ran into my g'ma in the grocery store and told her about completing her afghan. She said she when she used to work years ago that the ladies that she worked with were all crocheting the same pattern. The other ladies finished but she never did. She said she always thought it was a beautiful pattern. I guess it was like the CAL a long time ago! I also told her about your compliments. She just beamed. Thank you for making her day! My mom is going to take the afghan over to her tonight for her to see. My mom is the eldest of 7 siblings and they are all getting together with g'ma tonight for a bbq for Labor Day.
  18. aww ginamaria It is a very special blessing that I had the opportunity to do this. In any other family I bet those strips would have been just tossed out, but I was fortunate enough to have the skills to complete the afghan. Therefore, I am the lucky one.
  19. I remember when I started crocheting years ago and didn't have much money(Not that I have a lot now) but I used to think it was ok to leave tiny tails to save on my yarn. Now I realize that usually at the end of a project I have so much left over and it is safer to leave longer tails...I do. I just know when I try to weave in these 1-2" tails on my g'ma's afghan that they are just going to pop out in time and hopefully won't unravel. Thank you for all the compliments. I will share them with my g'ma.
  20. My grandma is in her 80's and is preparing to move into an assisted living community and has been cleaning out her house. She came across this strip afghan she probably started over 10-15 years ago. (she quit crocheting and took up quilting). She gave it to me to finish. I don't like finishing someone else's projects, but I took it because I don't have any of my grandma's crochet. All the strips were complete all I had to do this weekend was hook the strips together and do a simple trim just to finish it off. I found that when she added the next skein of yarn she left very tiny tails for weaving in. I hope it doesn't all unravel on me some day!! Since it has been so many years, my dye lots are off slightly. I didn't know what size hook she used or what yarn she used. All in all I think it turned out pretty nice. Here is the finished afghan. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a36/yarnlover66/Crochet%20Projects/?action=view&current=grandmaparisafghan2007finishedbyme.jpg ***I STAND CORRECTED! I talked to my mom just now and she said that G'ma started this afghan 20-25 years ago...NOT 10-15 like I thought. It is old! LOL
  21. how many skeins of yarn did you have to buy to make the blended ones? I need to know before I buy yarn. Is there a pattern or instructions how to do the blended ripples?
  22. I made one of those with the same jungle print. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. I gave it to my minister Andrea when she had her baby in May. Great job!
  23. Just by looking out here I got hooked by all the color schemes people used. I see one and say "I want to make one like that...or OOoooo I want to make one like that one" LOL Wish I could crochet all day long, but there is something called life that gets in my way sometimes! LOL I haven't stitched a stitch in 2 days. That is unusual for me! Maybe tonight.
  24. Ok ok...I am doing major cleaning today. I am trying to declutter. In the process today I ran across a round ripple baby afghan that I must have started about 3-4 years ago. Not like me to not finish a project. I totally forgot all about it. I guess I can jump right in and finish this one. I must be doing the one that doesn't lie flat. I am going to finish up this baby one and then do a full size one next. Here is a picture of the baby one I started oh so long ago........
