  1. The nice thing was they provided all the supplies so you would know if you really wanted to invest in supplies. I dont really need another hobby. I find the method fascinating to think about. Are you still on crutches? Wishing you and yours a Happy Easter too!

    Here's Tigger

Mary Jo looks like you nailed it. He looks grrrrrreat to quote another tiger.
  3. dc in next 6 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch,2 dc in next stitch dc in next 4 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch dc in next 4 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch dc in next 4 stitches, 2dc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch dc in next 4 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch
  4. The botanical garden offered a class years ago on pysanky using bees wax (wax resist method---Krys I think you explained it well) and to this day I regret not taking it.

Yep another one of those really well written patterns-------Not. What made me stop and think longer about it is it says 35 single crochet but the stitches made up to that point were double crochet so either misprint or maybe you make 35 single crochets.

Granny Square I dont think the 35 is a stitch count for the row but rather instructions to continue on down the row with 35 sc. The first stitches of this row with the decreases are dc. A 1 dc decrease 7 times would use up 21 stitches of the previous row/round. Then if you continue on with 35 sc you would have used all the 56 stitches in previous row/round. Does this possibly make sense?
  7. Glasses and masks are a pain. I always had problems with my glasses eventually fogging--- not good when trying not to touch your face. You can use rubber bands if you have some that work. Dh is getting used to wearing one. He was complaining about it pulling too much. He had pulled too much of his bandana thru the elastics and needed to back it out a bit. Then he said it was ok. He says he cant wear his glasses with it but dont know if he tried. I practiced wearing mine with my readers but eventually got fogging.

    Big cat

Made me smile seeing all the poses. Great job and so nice of to make it for the auction.
  9. Mona praying its just a sprain and much better tomorrow. If it had to happen it was a blessing to have help nearby.
  10. Its really not bad. Surprisingly it seems just as stable as ones I used to have to wear way back when working in hospital. Tie ones were a pain getting them tied tight enough to not slip but not so tight that they hurt and the elastic ones eventually hurt my ears because elastic was so stretched out. I have more control by virtue of amount of handkerchief pulled thru elastics so its easily adjustable. For my face though I think I am preferring to just fold it in half and then folding it in half again. I think she is folding it the way she does so if you need to pull it a bit to cover your nose and chin. We are still experimenting but this was fast, easy to put together (I had the materials) and easily adjusted for size. I have been looking thru boxes at fabric. Dh thinks he wants a more complicated sewn one with a wire in it to fit better at nose.
  11. I am spending today looking thru boxes for what fabric I kept. Dont think I have much if any 100% cotton. Its pretty much all going to be a cotton poly blend. I did fix up a couple of cotton bandanas with hair elastics and it really doesnt seem too bad. Always hated masks because my glasses fogged up. http://blog.japanesecreations.com/no-sew-face-mask-with-handkerchief-and-hair-tie
  12. Which pattern are you trying? I have printed off a couple of styles. Looking to see what I have fabric wise. Most of what I have is a cotton poly blend. I did dig out a couple of my large cotton handkerchiefs and tried the following. Its not too bad. http://blog.japanesecreations.com/no-sew-face-mask-with-handkerchief-and-hair-tie
  13. That reminds me I had several clumps of crocus scattered through out that yard too. Never messed with tulips because at my other house squirrels ate them.
  14. I get that. I have been watching to see what flowers pop up here. There have been daffodils, hyacinths, and large beds of tulips blooming. It was even good seeing a dandelion.
  15. I gave my seeds, grow boxes and planters away. For several years we would be searching for seed potatoes to plant near St. Patricks day. I really loved gardening in our raised beds. Miss my asparagus bed too. I think gardening and watching things grow can be therapeutic. I was always amazed at how much plants grew or changed over night. My avatar is a photo of a small section of a very long row of my daffodils at old place. One of the reasons moving made me sad was because of leaving all the flowers and bushes most were splits or starts from friends and relatives most long gone.
  16. Yes Chris that is funny thinking about that Patriots truck hauling those masks into NY. I would love to be able to hug/snuggle/pet your beautiful girls about now. Well we got an email this evening that an associate working in a non- patient care position in a contained area at the care center here on campus has tested positive for covid 19. They were asymptomatic when on campus. Governor finally put whole state on shelter in place. Many counties had already started shelter in place 11 days ago. Sis and niece decided to give me the weekend off! ·
  17. Chris I was just talking with a friend yesterday and she was wondering about buying plants to put in her garden spot but not wanting to shop for them. I told her to get online and check out the old seed catalogue companies, order seeds and start them herself. I feel a bit bad for those here at the village that paid for their garden spots for the year and planted their spring crops because last I heard they werent allowing them over there. On the nice days when I am here I watch the grounds guys busy at work-----mowing, fertilizing, cutting trees down etc.
  18. It was just one thing I heard. Most likely its like everything else around here. It depends on who is in control and where their money is coming from.
  19. Mary Jo at first I was surprised by hardware stores being open but I would sure hate to not have running water or electricity for lack of the needed part. Many of the hardware stores here also carry all kinds of cleaning supplies and pet food. Menards also carries quit a bit of food, including milk and lots of cleaning supplies and maybe even toilet paper. The issue here has been with Bass Pro. County told them to close but had to let them open back up because there is a state law prohibiting cities and state from restricting the sales of guns and ammo in a state of emergency but they can only sale gun and gun safety related products. Guess you gotta protect that toilet paper. I was shocked yesterday to learn that Michaels JoAnns and Hobby Lobby were still open. I thought sure they were closed as I was trying to figure out what I was going to need to make masks to wear in public. I really dont want to cut up my new 100% cotton night gown. I might have some fabric but with moving dont know where its at and most likely it is a cotton poly blend. I have the large red or blue 100% cotton hankies so I am leaning towards the bandito look.
  20. Thanks for sharing. It brightened my day up a bit. It is raining off and on here and temp is dropping---might freeze tonight. Waiting on more samples to arrive to see if they work meanwhile another frustrating day with supplies that do not work and niece scrambling for more of same to get us thru the weekend.
  21. Chris one story I heard was that the medical system didnt need to be swamped with people going thru withdrawal right now.
  22. I can see the hardware stores being open----I have spent emergency time in plumbing aisle. Just saw Hobby Lobby Michaels and JoAnns are still open here. I sort of thought they would be closed.
  23. Judy glad to hear you are doing ok and was able to get supplies. I saw all that on the news and its so hard for me to not totally freak out. I feel really bad for the medical community and their families. I feel for all those in the hospitals separated from their families and those dying alone and their families not being to have a funeral and grieving together. I do not understand why people do not take this serious. Our governor has yet to issue stay at home orders for state. Many counties have. He did mandate groups of no more than 10, social distancing, and only those providing essential services into nursing homes and retirement communities. The friend that lives nearby has a son that just now got a positive result for it. He lives somewhere in this area and works on equipment at the VA. His family had visited his mil a couple of weeks ago. Mil is a PA at Mayo clinic and has tested pos. Sis and niece gave me a day off but I have been busy all day catching up on things here. Cindy glad you got what you needed at the store. Sorry your bil isnt getting better. Isnt that the way of it------all the time we were working we wished we could spend days on end at home doing things and now when you are supposed to stay home you dont feel like it?
  24. Katy I saw this last night and was just crushed. Also just heard from my friend that lives nearby her son went to ER mon and is waiting results on covid 19 testing. He works on equipment at VA. His family had visited with his mil who is a PA at Mayo clinic a couple of weeks ago and she has since tested positive. Even though they most likely will be okay the huge worry is who all did they infect before symptoms appeared. And this had a good tip on how to handle bringing groceries home. https://www.sunset.com/lifestyle/wellness/grocery-shopping-quarantine-covid-19 Article points out most tp is not being hoarded. https://marker-medium-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/marker.medium.com/amp/p/c812e1358fe0?amp_js_v=a3&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQFKAGwASA%3D#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From %1%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fmarker.medium.com%2Fwhat-everyones-getting-wrong-about-the-toilet-paper-shortage-c812e1358fe0
