  1. This is for my 3rd youngest granddaughter Elizabeth. She is just a delight as all you have to say to her is “Hello how are you “ and she talks on and on for a minimum of 10 minutes. This is a treat for me as the other older grandchildren give one word answers to my conversations. “ Hi, fine, yes , ok, no , maybe, nothing , fine , Bye Elizabeth is 7 and sharp as a tack, she will inherit a lot of my stuff.
  2. You girls talking about Pork roll makes me want to run out and buy some. Can get that here, but not a decent TOMATO. I have to hope someone comes down in September when they are out, or that my sister will be kind enough to send me some. I would give my right arm, well maybe the left for a beacon, lettuce and Jersey tomato sandwich on wonderbread.
  3. Have you tried crochet pattern central? They have a lot of patterns. The link below takes you to the women's clothing section. Perhaps you can find what you want there. http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/women.php
  4. Beautiful Job. Love the color. Welcome to the land of Thread crochet. There is no stopping you now.
  5. Hi and welcome:welcome to Crochetville. Don't worry about carrying the two colors throughout the blanket. It may be what a lot won't do, but I have done it with several blankets, when there is a lot of color changes. (Go to Search on Show and Tell and look at Dora or Princess) You can't even see it. This is a good place to learn and get idea's and most of all have fun. It doesn't matter if you are first or 10th or 100th for the day to say you are new, we are still glad to hear about you and to say a great big H! :hook
  6. This is the one I really like. http://www.techchick.lunarpages.com/trishs_nook/crafts/spring_shawl.htm It is nice and lacy and that looks like what you are looking for. Lots to chose from. :hook
  7. Hi, Welcome to Crochetville. from the Sunshine state (not today). :sun
  8. Hi Norah:hi from the Sunny:sun state of Florida. Welcome to Crochetville.
  9. Thank you everyone for your help in getting a pattern for Tinkerbell. I have decided to use the picture Xantha gave me and use Still’s idea of copying it onto graph paper. Loved the pictures Fran and Tween gave me also. Here is the pattern and now it is off to buy the yarn. Biggest problem is what color should I do the background. Do I do it in Pale yellow, green, pink or mauve? Oh well, when all is ready, I will post on show and tell as the start of a new project. TINKERBELL!
  10. Welcome to Crochetville. Long winded is a virtue here along with a sense of humor. How I remember trying to figure out what to buy my mom. One year she told us three girls that all she wanted was a pancake turner for Christmas. Well, that was exactally what she got. Three different ones actually. Anyway, how about a nice lacey shaw. One she can wear on cool nights? Try this http://www.techchick.lunarpages.com/trishs_nook/crafts/spring_shawl.htm It is at www.crochetpatterncentral.com . They have lots of ideas and patterns you might like to try. By the way, this is a big Hi from Florida and again welcome . :hook
  11. Thank you, for the suggestions. I am going to try several of them. I knew I could count on the people here. You guys are good.
  12. If you are looking for a hat the size for a barbie doll, go to www.crochetpatterncentral.com. They have a pattern for Barbie call Barbie feeding the geese. She is wearing a small straw hat. http://www.geocities.com/barbie42day/geese.html If that is not what you want, you can browse the same web site for a hat. Good luck.
  13. I hope someone can help me. I am looking for a pattern or actually graph of Tinker Bell. I can find everyone but her. I can even find the 7 dwarfs. The only tinker I found is with Peter Pan and Wendy, so you can imagine how small she is. My third youngest Granddaughter is redoing her room in Tinker Bell. I would like to make an afghan for her. Maybe someone will know where I can go on the net with a picture and have it changed over to a graph. I will say thank you for your help in advance. :hook
  14. That is going to be one neat blanket. One idea to help you keep track of rows, is if you can make a n extra copy of the pattern and mark off the rows as you finish them. I did that with mine and it helped me keep track of where I was. It is so easy to get lost. I also used a row counter. Also can't wait to see it finished.
  15. Beautiful! Your Dad is really going to love it. I agree with the picture.
  16. Welcome from the Sunny State of Florida (not today) Always glad to meet a fellow crocheter. :hook Do lots of thread crochet myself. I deal more in Barbie dolls and lots of them have beads. Isn't it fun working with beads? :yay
  17. Try this web site. It seemed to have a nice one. http://crochet.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=crochet&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.craftyarncouncil.com%2Fprojects%2Fjune_crochproject.html Here is another one not so bright. http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/chs-hexagonAfghan.html
  18. Hi Auntcut, On my Disney Princess afghan I used Red Heart Light Coral. That seem to be the nicest color for skin. It seemed to be the best color. Light peach would work also.
  19. Welcome to Crochetville, Well, you will sure learn a lot here. We are from all over and we all love to crochet and chat. I live in Florida, where we get maybe one or two days of frost in the winter, but no snow. I came from up North where we would get snow in the winter and believe me you are not missing anything. Sounds like you have a nice and talanted family. This is a great place to meet new friends and get lots of ideas for new projects. So sit back, read and get ready to be inspired and to laugh.
  20. Unbelieveable . I just looked at the web site for the minatures. I am in awe. You did a beautiful job with the pot holder.
  21. Here is a book at Annie's Attic that has afghans for every month. You will probably find what you want there. http://www.anniesattic.com/detail.html?prod_id=6637
  22. Wait a minute. I am a little comfused here. I thought you only gave up things for a few weeks before Easter. Did I miss something and they changed it to May? I have been looking forward to going to my favorite store,(where I don't go much) and get some thread and yarn. I can't give that up or even reading or posting. I will go up a wall:loco . I need the yarn and the humor that goes with this board. Wait a minute this is a joke right? :sofunny Whew! Got scared there for a minute. Must keep the dh away from this thread. :rofl
  23. Ken is finally dressed and ready to court Barbie. They will be appearing on the Thanksgiving table in November, together along with their Native American Friends.

    Color changing

Chatty and CraftyChristine are right in changing colors. I just learned how to do it right in crocheting myself. Just remember don't tie the colors on. It just makes a lump. Don't forget, you can carry the yarn behind if you are making vertical stripes so you don't have so many ends to weave in. :hook
