  • Crocheting since...
    Since I was 7 or 8
  1. There is one quilt & yarn shop in a small town not too far from me that I've stopped in a couple times. It's mainly a quilting shop, but there is a small yarn room. She did have both knit and crochet, but whenever I commented that I don't knit, she would try selling me learn to knit books, lol. There's another yarn shop, much closer to me, that caters to both knit and crochet equally. The owner doesn't understand why some shops shun the crocheters since crocheting uses more yarn than knitting, a yarn shop owner could easily sell more yarn to a crocheter for a project than to a knitter. BTW, I am teaching myself to knit. I've crocheted for 24 or so years, and I figure I'll give knitting another shot. I've started a scarf and so far so good. Crochet will always be my first choice, but I think it would be nice to be able to do either.
  2. I want to say to the elf in Florida who sent such a great package! I received: A size J Susan Bates afghan hook A recipe for Almond Joy/Mounds cookies and the cutest crocheted snowman
  3. Just came in from the mail box in which there was the cutest postcard from a FGM of Catskill Mountain Rush Hour, which depicts a school bus stuck behind a herd of holstein cattle. It made my day thanks!
  4. It's actually not very complicated and it's only 2 rounds. I do love how it turned out. :-)
  5. I would like to say thank you to my Fairy Godmother in Connecticut! She sent some crafts for my kids: purse kits for my girls (one a monkey, the other a bunny) - the girls are aching to put them together. a doghouse kit for my son A package of colorful feathers Also, a great storybook for the kids called "The Perfect Purple Feather." They love it and the pictures are great! For me, she sent a Crochet World magazine, some tear sheets, and three balls of crochet thread! Thanks for such a great ROAK!
  6. Katchkan, your package made it safely across the bridge today. Thank you Kathy!!!! Here's what was in the box: A beautiful doily with pineapples and flowers which is gracing the back of my chair right now. Another lovely doily. This one is on my piano. Plus lots of goodies! There's a ball of thread in bridal blue, a 3-way needle threader (which will come in handy!) bath fizzies, body butter (how'd you know lavender was my fav?), a notepad, strawberry candies (yummy!) and a note card (did you make the paper Kathy?) Thanks for a great package!
  7. It's always fun to get surprises in the mail! Here's my list: Gift Card (Joann's, Michael's, WalMart, Target, Fred Meyer, Starbucks) Something hand-made by you Big Train Vanilla Chai (available at http://thebeanery.biz) Edgery-doo Anything Judaica Patricia Kristoffersen pattern book Tunisian crochet hook Hand-made stitch markers Cone of cotton yarn Lighted crochet hook
  8. I thought I would share a picture of the doily I made and sent to mysonsmommy. It is white although it doesn't show as pure white in the picture. Click on the picture for a larger view.
  9. Here's the link for the pattern: http://www.geocities.com/cherilynm/FancyCrochetedCrossBookmark.html
  10. I just did this cross bookmark for an exchange on another group. What do you think? (click on photos for bigger version)
  11. Oh that's beautiful! Maybe next year I should do the larger doily swap.
  12. This bear is sooooo cute! I just finished one for someone who just had a baby. Since the recipient is less than a month old, I got embroidery floss and stitched on the facial features. I think it turned out great! Here's a pic... This I think is the first toy I've ever crocheted.
  13. I always wash items first. It ensures that the item is clean and it also helps soften it a little.
