Crochet Business Mastermind Groups with AMY SHELTON, 1-month session, begins January 26, 2013 A mastermind group coordinates the knowledge and effort of two or more people working together toward a definite purpose, as originally conceptualized by Napoleon Hill in his book Think and Grow Rich. He believed that as members of the group shared their experiences, knowledge, and wisdom with each other, that synergy would occur, allowing each member to achieve much more than would have been possible if working individually. Group members hold each other accountable and challenge each other to brainstorm new business ideas and to create and implement goals.
Group members are equal participants in forming the agenda and direction of the group. Each member is expected to keep up with regular participation in the group. Each member should receive equal time for other group members to consider their situation and needs, and all members should work together to make sure that no one member dominates the group's time and energies.
Novice Mastermind: This group is for those who are thinking about starting a crochet business or are in the first six months of opening their business.
Associate Mastermind: This group is for those who have been running a crochet business for anywhere between six and 30 months.
Professional Mastermind: This group is for those who have been running a crochet business for 30 months (2.5 years) or longer.
Teacher: Amy Shelton (AmyS). Length: One month. Cost: $15.

Do It Yourself Tank Top with KIM GUZMAN, 2-week class, begins February 1, 2013 You will learn what you need to know to make a custom-fit tank top of your own design. I have chosen a tank top because it doesn't require sleeves and is a great first-time garment design. The bodice of the garment will be in all single crochet. This is very strict to the class. The bodice is made in the easiest manner possible so that you do not have to make major calculations within a complex stitch pattern. This is a beginner class, after all. Save the tough stuff for later. You can make the remainder in single crochet or you can choose a stitch pattern from either a book or an online resource. You can choose crew neck, scoop neck or v-neck. I usually use Excel spreadsheets as a key role in my designing. I will be teaching how to use Excel for your garment, but you don't necessarily need to use Excel. You can use a pencil and paper to do your calculations. Just like you can do math on paper or in your head, so can you do the calculations for a garment. Excel just makes it easier and quicker. If you have never worked with Excel, but have it on your computer, now is a terrific time to try it out. You don't need prior Excel experience. This class will only include the information on how to make a tank top as described. Please keep your questions within those parameters. We will not be discussing, for instance, how to do the calculations for sleeves or how to make a button band or include a zipper, etc. These go beyond the scope of the class.

Graph Crochet with KIM GUZMAN, 1-day class, begins February 15, 2013 Are you interested in working from a graph, but don't know where to start? This class is definitely for you. I will be covering many different ways to crochet from a graph so that you can make a decision about which technique you'd like to use. This is a technique-based class. There is no actual project. It will solely be a class in which you will learn these different techniques:
1) Solid color work. We'll start with crocheting in one color. You will learn how to use a graph to work in filet as well as how to use textured stitches in both regular crochet and Tunisian crochet.
2) Multi color work. Next we'll learn how to change colors in a multi-color graph for both single crochet and Tunisian crochet. You'll practice crochet intarsia as well as working over stitches in more of a Tapestry crochet technique.
Students can use one of the simple graphs which will be included in the class or choose one from an online source or make their own with graph paper or cross-stitch software. (Note that I do not use cross-stitch software and have no experience with it. Learning to use this software is outside the scope of this class.)
The image shown in this class description is more than a beginner project. Although I will provide the graph for it, it is not representative of the simple graphs which will be encouraged during the learning process.

Beginning Knitting with KIM GUZMAN, 2-week class, begins February 22, 2013 There are times when a little knitting is desired and will make a crochet project look really sharp! The most obvious use of knitting would be ribbing. Knitted ribbing is perfect for so many crochet projects! And, why not add a nice rib around the neck? Perhaps a turtleneck? Learning a few handy knitting skills will help add just the right finishing touch to your crochet.
Learn directly from a crocheter, in the style most popular for crocheters. Learning to knit doesn't mean that you'll need to hold your yarn any differently. You can learn in the Continental style and still be able to hold your yarn in your non-hook hand. Business as usual. See step-by-step how this is done. Learning directly from a crocheter makes it so much easier to learn.
If you have already started to learn to knit, but you've been learning as a "thrower", why not try out Continental with us? You won't believe the ease and quickness when doing rib or seed stitch patterns. Not having the extra step of "throwing" makes these stitch patterns go much more smoothly and quickly.
In this class, you will learn the two basic knit stitches; knit and purl. You'll learn how to cast on and bind off stitches with a crochet hook instead of the traditional fashion. And, you'll learn how to pick up stitches to add that knitted rib to a crocheted project.
Due to this being a beginning knitting class, the length of the class is two weeks to give students plenty of practice time.
